I live in Seoul now, and I want to move from my hakwon job to public school.
For those of you teaching public school, did you go through a recruiter, or what? Any advice on getting a job in Seoul - I really don't want to move outside of the city if I can avoid it...
Thanks for the advice folks |

| Most public school positions are now filled in Seoul. They will be hiring again for a mid-August training period/September start. I believe they go through recruiters for most of their hiring. There are other threads that list the recruiters that SMOE uses to get their teachers. If you're willing to wait that long, I would apply now and get in early. There may be the odd one or two that is still hiring, so check the job boards and see what's available. Good luck! |

Oh, I'm not looking to move NOW ^_^ I was hoping for fall semester
Any ideas about which recruiters I should use? I saw that worknplay.com appeared to be recruiting for public school positions. Are they reputable? |

For SMOE / ETIS they only use a few recruiters.
Details are on their website.

| I got my public school job through Footprints. No problems. They were very helpful and completely understood why I wanted to leave hagwon life. I exchanged heaps of emails with Footprints. I also had an interview with them and with the Office of Education. A job worth waiting for after a hagwon. |

| I also used Footprints to get my public school job and had no problems. I had my interview here in Seoul with Kelly and Lois (in charge of hiring for SMOE), and it was smooth sailing from there. Good luck! |

Right place / right time. I had my resume up on some random little free site visited by few. They happened to see it there when they were looking for a teacher, and called me.
I wore a suit to the interview, and was very kind/formal. |

I got my public school position in Masan through JobBusan, great work.
Others in my orientation class went through work-n-play.

| If you want one in Gangnam, you pretty much need to get it through somebody you know because they don't really get advertised. I started at mine in September though. |
