i used to log into this site everyday and see loads of korean jobs advertised. now i can log on three days in a row and see nothing and when i do its usually just a bunch of recruiters, which people here seem to demonize. i found my first job on this board and it was just two years ago when jobs were overflowing on this site. have schools just farmed their work out to recruiters now or what?

The market is drying up lately, for various reasons, and it's also the month after university jobs close for the semester.

That said, Sperling'll take that $75 from anybody with a pulse and a keyboard, it seems, and the recruiters are winning.

I've suggested before that it'd be more of a service to the community to split off the recruiter ads from the direct-from-employer ads, but that would certainly mean a policy that would stigmatize recruiters, and that would mean a reduction of revenue for this site, and that is quite probably not going to happen.

That said, I'd love to see Dave Sperling show up on this forum and actually discuss with us, the community, what is best with regard to the growth of 'recruiterism', but I don't see that happening either, unfortunately. C'est la vie.

One hopes that another site will grow to be as useful for real, decent job offers as this one once was. Unless there's some change in 'editorial' policy with regard to job postings, that's inevitable, I think, and shortsightedness will see Dave's revenue steadily decline, but in the meantime we're stuck in the middle, unfortunately.

It's the way the web works, sadly. But it's not too late - take heed, Mr Sperling....

(disclaimer : I love the Dave, and I've had a few drinks, but I think that the job posting section of this site (and never mind all the other dusty, useless corners of it) is desperately in need of some modernization and rethinking to make it more of a service to the people (us!) who have made it WebCentral for Korean job searchers.)

the job postings on this board have hit a new low. if eslcafe wants to catch up with some of the best job posting sites, they should take a page out of the chinatefl.com site. they list schools that are looking for jobs and include a detailed writeup about the school and even include some photos. eslcafe used to be my first choice when job hunting.... no longer.

A site is coming, complete with photos, and video if the director chooses.
