Im in Europe, travelling with my KEB international debit card and it broke in half during a mishap with the ATM.

Does anyone have a contact number to anyone at KEB who might be able to help?

Do you think the bank will express a replacement card to Spain?

Anyone have a similar experience while abroad?

Any ideas on solving this dilemma will be appreciated.

The only similar(ish) experience I've had whilst abroad was when I sold a computer that was in Seoul (I was in Cambodia). I asked my mate to put the money into my Korean account.

Needless to say that the card wouldn't work (it had been used in Thailand a few months prior without problem). I got in contact with my boss who advised that there was nothing the bank could do. Any problems he said would entail me being at the bank (unless he was lying).

It's only a hunch, but something tells me that they will not dispatch a new card to you in Europe. I *think* - although am happy to be corrected - you're up sh!t creek without a paddle.

Good luck (I think you'll need it).

With all the uncertainty about Korean bank cards, why would anyone go abroad with that as their only source of cash?

Poor guy. I would suggest finding a Korean and get them to call the bank.
They'll be less likely to hang up.
Maybe someone can Western Union him some money.

i would assume that they would express post you one, no problem. probably for a small fee.

that's how it works in the real world

but assumptions are dangerous in korea.

If you have alternate sources of money, why did you even bother creating this thread? Rolling Eyes

All you have to do is come back to Korea and reapply for it.

Did you think anyone of us would send you some cash via Western Union? Rolling Eyes

Maybe he does not want to use his credit card, or dig in to his savings, he never asked anyone to wire him money, he was just asking how to call KEB from overseas, and the possibility of getting a new card (neither of which i can help with)

Maybe he wasn't (understandably) looking to come back to Korea.

I'd take the broken card into a bank there in Spain and see if someone there can help you.

People like you are the reason this forum is as good as fooked. The guy wants advice on replacing his bank card, not moralising from some idiot who has nothing better to do.

You know what? If I had a same problem as the OP. I would go to KEB english website and get the proper contact information for English speaking customer service rep instead.

Here is that Info. Rolling Eyes
