| ok so I live in Jinju and recently bought a 125cc sport bike. I dont have the papers for it and it had no plates ( I know my first stupid mistake). Itt was parked on the street near my apartment. Anywho, it was vandalized on Tuesday someone put silicone all over it, in the key holes etc. Then Sunday I went out and came home around 11 and it was gone, it had a dead battery and a lock on the rear wheel. So I think it was "towed" not stole. Although I could be wrong. Anywho any info on how I would go about getting it back (contacting the police) or if it is even possible would be a great help. Thanks |

no papers and no plates, the police aren't going to be able to help you.
Even if you DID have the papers and plates it would still be very difficult for them to help you.
Reminds me of back home in the US. I had my car broken into and a bunch of stuff stolen. I called Richmond City Police and they wouldn't even come out to take a look. They told me to tell them what was missing over the phone and they'll mail a police report to my house in 2-3 business. |

Go to one of the motorcycle shop and pretend that you're looking to buy a used motorcycle with exact description of your stolen motorcycle.
Who know.... they may bring out your stolen motorcycle from their secret garage in the back.
Good luck. |

Do you know the VIN #? You should still make a police report but the chances of you getting it back are slim to none. Sorry.
Next time buy a lock and have your bike properly registered and plated. That way, you'll at least have some way to identify it if something were to happen. |

| ya I had a lock, and if I get the vin# is that enough to go to the police with. Are there impound lots where police take abandon or "towed" bikes in korea?? |

Sorry 'bout your situation...my bike got jacked as well (one-day old and just 7km on the dang thing!). As for your query, I doubt it was towed, but yes... there are lots where towed cars await their owner. They are usually not far from your house and their should be notices up in your area as to the contact info for such a place in your area. I've seen the notices/info just under tow-signs/no parking signs.
Good luck!

The fact silicone sealed all the key areas of your bike, I would think an adjoshi didn't like where you were parking. I've noticed the some Koreans have no qualms about damaging vehicles in thier cherish parking space. It's a good chance a neighbor did that and later picked it up and dumbed it somewhere. Doubt you'll ever see it again. Landlord have issues with it? |

| ya that is my feeling too that the neighbours didnt like it / me (some of my neighbours dont like me because I put garbage out in the wrong bag once when I first got here cause I didnt know and they called the cops to give me a 300,000 fine, there was a note in korean saying something to the effect of you always throw your garbage out illigally), so they vandalized it and then it was gone. see I thought that mayne they called the cops to remove it and it woudl be somewhere. but ya if the neighbour removed it I am probabaly out of luck. |

| It has no papers so it doesn't exist so you can't go to the police over it. |

Are you serious? I've lived in cities where I was warned by the 'garbage overseer' to put it in the store-bought, proper city's pay-as-you-dump bag but I've never heard of anyone getting fined. You were actually fined, and paid, 300,000 won?!! |

Really? Last I heard, a couple of years ago or so, you mentioned you had a Harley Davidson ('his and hers', two, I think you said you had). What kind of bike was it that was recently stolen. How was it locked? Was it tarped, tucked out of the way, insured? Sorry to hear about this! |

Sorry for the delay in response...i forgot about this thread. Anywho, the bike that was ripped off was my 1st bike in Korea (back in 98 or 99, and cheap-o wannabe rice rocket). I bought it on Sunday and drove it straight to the apartment. Simple lock on it and that's all. I went out the next week and bought an identical bike...this time with more locks, chains, and alarm. Someone (again) tried to steal it on several occasions, but were unsuccessful.
As for our Harleys...the 'hers' addition never came to fruition (we opted to put that money elsewhere...though we shopped for one for her like mad), and I ended up not keeping the one I was riding.
Oh well, we'll wait for FTA to kick in and buy one here in K-land for 4~5 million less (we presume).
