[Zionism is a stupid idea but it is understandable , considering that Bathists, Khomeni followers ,Al Qaedists and those with a similar politcal ideologies can't be trusted to govern or protect their minorities]
I agree with you that Al Qeada could not govern a state in any shape or form, would i would argue that The Baathists in Iraq had less of a body count in 30 years of rule than the American military has accumulated in 4 years...
Secondly, with regard to the Khomeini followers, you fail to acknowledge how the Pahlavi regime and SAVAK treated political dissidents (hanging men by their genatles); one of the main reasons why the islamic revolution was born...
Scorry to get off topic, but i had to say it[/quote] |

1. Saddam Husseins regime killed 300,000 Iraqis - that doesn't include his war with Iran or his invasion of Kuwait or anything else he did. Of course he would have killed many more if he were allowed to go free. One of the things he might have done was finish off the Kurds once and for all.
So US actions also saved lives.
2. You are charging the US with those the insurgents killed and insurgents the US kills and indirct deaths.
It is true there would be no insurgency if the didn't take down Saddam on the other hand the insurgency woudl end if the Kurds and Shias 80% of the population surrendered to the insurgents. You don't seem them doing that. Notice the insurgents are not asking for independence they are fighting to rule Iraq cause they can't win an election. In many ways the insurgents are like the Southern confederates during the US civil war. Both were trying to fight to maintain an unjust system that could not surive w/o persecuting others.
3.The US messed up with the Shah but Khomeni was probably worse.
Futhermore whatever the US did to bring the Shah to power does not excuse what ever Khomeni did or what Iran did 30 years later.

The US-led occupation authority in Iraq has said at least 300,000 people were buried in mass graves in Iraq.
Human rights officials put the number closer to 500,000, and some Iraqi political parties estimate more than 1 million people were executed.
Without exhumations of the mass graves, it is impossible to confirm a figure.
Scientists said during a recent investigation that they had confirmed 41 mass graves on a list of suspected sites that covers 270 locations.
Forensic teams will begin to exhume four of those graves next month, searching for evidence for a new tribunal, expected to be established this week, that will try members of the former regime for crimes against humanity and genocide.
More graves will later be added to the list.
But nobody expects all the mass graves to be exhumed, and nobody expects to ever know the full number of Iraqis executed by Saddam's regime. |

Khomeini fatwa 'led to killing of 30,000 in Iran'
By Christina Lamb, Diplomatic Correspondent

]CHILDREN as young as 13 were hanged from cranes, six at a time, in a barbaric two-month purge of Iran's prisons on the direct orders of Ayatollah Khomeini, according to a new book by his former deputy.
More than 30,000 political prisoners were executed in the 1988 massacre - a far larger number than previously suspected. Secret documents smuggled out of Iran reveal that, because of the large numbers of necks to be broken, prisoners were loaded onto forklift trucks in groups of six and hanged from cranes in half-hourly intervals.
Gruesome details are contained in the memoirs of Grand Ayatollah Hossein-Ali Montazeri, The Memoirs of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, one of the founders of the Islamic regime. He was once considered Khomeini's anointed successor, but was deposed for his outspokenness, and is now under house arrest in the holy city of Qom |
