Have you been in this station? It's like a scene out of the Matrix. I half expect Agent Smith to pop out from behind the magazine kiosk. I mean, nobody is around. I've been their a couple dozen times, and have never counted more than 5 people, and all of them were looking around with that quizzical look that says "Is this a station, or a gateway to the afterlife?"

On the upside, you can rip gas and it echoes for like, 5 minutes. Cool.

What's the one on the other side of Itaewon (the next stop up when you travel from Hangangjin-Itaewon-??????) - it's fuppin' massive for no real discernible reason.

Noksapyeong, easily one of the coolest looking stations in Seoul.

And it should be, it took 'em 5-6 years to finish it.

Noksapyeong is absolutely my favourite... although I haven't been to every other station in order to compare.

I also love the station next to Namdaemun -- Hoehyeon, I think it is. Weird-ass capped stainless steel greek columns... Every time I'm in there I think Zeus is about to appear in a puff of smoke.

And how about Chungmuro -- straight outta Bedrock!

Worst station? Anything on the Green Line (#2)

i don't know, I think dongdaemun, at least the #1 line part, is about as ghetto as it gets. Line #2 is just boring.

Green line's pretty raggedy.
I swear they've been running half those trains since the Korean War.

I also like Dongdaemun Stadium station. The mosaics on the walls of the '88 Olympic mascot are pretty cool.

As far as trains go, the best ones are the new ones they're using on the Bundang line. Second best goes to Line 6. They'd be tied for first if it weren't for those "bucket seats" they're using.

Sports Complex - they made the place absolutely massive to handle Olympic spectators, now 14 years on it's an absolute ghost-town.

Very eerie.

Do you know why Nopsapyeong Station is so ornate? It isn't
for the Russians and Nigerians that schlep thru there every day. The
Korean government was preparing for the day that most government
offices will be at the adjacent Yongsan base, when and if Sam gives
it up. "Spend extra on Nopsapyeong. I may have to walk through there
someday.."
