So I got my Wii!
It's been a lot of fun so far, but I'm wondering if I'm missing out on any functionality on the hardware side.
I can't understand most of the Japanese menus. I mean, I managed to make a Mii, but that's about it.
Any input much apreciated |

I got one today. Must say I am concerned that I don't know how to do @@ck all on it. And Wii Sports is not worth 40000. And Wii Play is crap. And Super Paper Mario has so much text at the beggining I haven't even started the game yet. And I can't play the one game I know would be good, Zelda, due to text overload. And I may have just wasted 430,000 instead of being patient, paying a little extra, and ordering a US version through PlayAsia.
Here's a note i wrote to a guy on a gaming forum I read who has a Jap Wii. I'll let you know if he replies:
Hey,
Bought my Japanese Wii here in Korea today. After blowing up the PSU because no-one at the store told me I needed a stepdown/up convertor (!!) I eventually got to playing. I don't speak Japanese and have a feeling I've wasted my 430 dollars. I initially thought the low price here for the bundle deal I got meant that playing everything but Zelda (you had said it was unplayable for a monolingual brit previously) would be worthwhile but now I'm wondering. While Wii Sports is amusing, and Paper Mario may prove playable, even simple things like changing the display from 480i to 480p to utilise my component cables is beyond me. What do you think? Should I offload it and lose at least half its value straight off and buy a US version, or should I persevere (I'm still battling through the intro to Paper Mario trying to find the actual game right now!!)
Cheers

Zelda (in english) is awesome once you get into it. Paper Mario is cool too, after all the text at the start.. there is a lot of text in the game, so that one would definitely be better in english too. Excite truck is a lot of fun, Godfather isn't bad, and there is always the gamecube games if you have a gamecube controller. Get your modded if you haven't already. Wiikey seems to be the best out there
