When I was phoning to northern ireland from the south did this..

if my friends no was 0771234567 it would become 0044 771234567

It will probably be the same as when I ring back home to the republic i use exactly the same code asd when I was ringing from Derry city in northern ireland to my home a few miles away in the republic.

what's the deal with the zero eleven ("011 44...")?

just put the country code (44) then the mobile number without the zero.

Otherwise, mb your buddy has trouble with reception/billing/theives?
