Seeing there is a discussion on the "legal" means by which the U.S. govt can continue to hold abductees in the "war", I'll post this here.

CPJ report (committee to protect journalists, reputable organization, no political affiliations) on the journalists held captive by the U.S. Al Haj in particular for 5 years, with hardly a word/squeek. Hussein also, his case brings tears to your eyes and AP is to be commended for their support and doing everything they can to help this innocent man get released. Read the report and please tell me how you can continue to think in any way, shape or form, the U.S. govt is not in the league of torturing/butchering/ tyranical and dictatorial regimes, so well known, of past and present. Pitiful.

Quote:
Hussein, a member of an AP photography team that won a 2005 Pulitzer Prize, was taken by U.S. forces on April 12, 2006, in the western city of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province. He has been held in a U.S. prison in Iraq for imperative reasons of security, according to military officials. To date, Hussein has not been tried or charged with a crime, and the military has disclosed no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
