In this thread, let's compile information about locations of imports, and what those places sell.

Bucheon: In the market right next to Bucheon station, there are 3 small import shops. You can not buy anything rare, but you can buy shredded cheese (big bag), hot dogs, nachos, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, some imported candies, canned goods, etc. Nothing big.

I heard there is a place near Yangjae (not Costco). Anyone know where it is and what they sell?

Oops, I mean good thread.

I recommend Namdaemun if you want any protein powder, amino acids or thermogenic pills. Many kinds of vitamins too and much cheaper than GNC. Many GNC brands too. Good place for dried fruit, nuts, candy and oatmeal as well.

Go out Exit 5 of Hoehyun station (Line 4, one stop East of Seoul Station) and turn right. It is a big tunnel leading downwards (on the right) and it takes about 3 minutes to walk there. It is past the little tourist information booth. If you can't find the place you can ask them for directions.

Can you get the same stuff for the same price at the sinchon station? That would be closer to me.

In Ilsan, there's a place in the basement of the building across from Taeyoung Shopping Plaza, just south of Juyeop Station, and it sells lots of Mexican foods, sliced meats such as salami and bologna, cheeses of all sorts, CHEESE-flavored Cheetos, granola bars, lots of American candies, beef jerky, guacamole, and some other things.

Where is Songtan?

It suprises me how Westernized Korea is, but yet, outside of Seoul you find very little foreign products.

The Red Door, a short walk from Burger King in Itaewon is the most unique store I have visited. An ajumma in there sells American things which are a real delight.

E-marts sell Prego Spagetti sauce, kidney beans, and Skippy peanut butter.

Seamans club in Busan behind the KTX station has a tiny store that sells Reeses peanut butter cups, real toothpaste, and real soap.

I have traveled the world quite a bit and this is the first time I found it tough to get things of all sorts desired, but I know Korea has it all if you know where to look. Anything is possible if you know where to go which is the real kicker about it all. I know Costcos sell lots of American products and are very crowded which demonstrates that there is a lack of Western products to meet the demand in Korea. Koreans do want more of the world, but are not seeing it as much as most other countries are for what ever reasons be. So if you know where to get things outside of Seoul that are not so Korean, please let us know. Smile

A lot of market protection and high tariffs are having their effects. Thank God for GI's who are willing to risk their ass stealing off the base and selling it to Koreans. How else would I get my blueberry pie filling?

Also about the red door lady. I was looking in the area for a bank amchine, and I found another store just up the road that is almost identical to the red door lady's store. I didn't take a good look. Next time, I will, as red door's prices are a little too high for my liking.

Sky Outlet in Gimpo, Sawoo-dong. They have random stuff in there like tortilla chips, nacho cheese, Hershey's products. I also found Downy fabric softener, Kool Aid, Nestea, and a bunch of other random stuff.
