Does anyone know if the teflonline.com online certification program is reputable? I noticed that it only lists itself as a 50 -hour course. Is this something that is accepted for the pay raise?

Most public schools require a course to be at least 100 hours. I would check with your school to verify this

I am currently taking a 140 hour course with www.americantesol.com, and is approved through the public school.

I just want to make sure I have my information right....

Having TEFL certification is the same as having 1 year of ESL experience ... correct?

What I'm asking is, would it even be worth getting the certification if you were 8 months into your contract?

I guess that all depends on what your planning to do. If your going to stay at a public school I would get it.. Extra cash, and some of it is really helpful. If your going back home to never teach again I wouldnt worry about it.

I guess I could put the price on here. It will run you 420$ that includes the shipping for the 140 hour course.

I did the 60-hour course with i-to-i.com before coming to Korea, and was advised by staff at the education office to get another 40 hours training for a pay increase.

I found 2 x 20-hour online courses at London Teacher Training College (teachenglish.co.uk).

I would recommend any of these establishments. Good value for money (approximately 800 000 Won).

I am doing an completely online TEFL based here in Korea.

There website is:

http://www.koredinco.com

Email: [email protected]

Right now they are offering their 100 hour course for only $200 for the first 50 respondents. Their normal price is usually $250 so either way they are a good deal.

Check it out!

KEI - TEFL is fully licensed and certified by the Korean Government. The Institute of Online Education is established for the specific purpose of providing TEFL instruction.

Go to the website and drop or send an email to the Institute. Someone will be happy to answer your questions concerning credentials.

No offense taken, it is just important to make sure the real facts are being represented... KEI - TEFL began because there is a specific need in Korea and internationally for an online program that really is online. 99% of the so-called online programs advertising their courses are nothing more than correspondence by email programs, and hardly online.

This program is no gimmic, the prices being stated are correct and there are no hidden expenses. The instruction is written by teachers with education backgrounds using the same methodology as the vast majority of other programs offering similar training.

It is online, which some people try to slight by saying it is not good or an appropriate method of instruction, but it is the fact that the program is online that makes it so versital. The program is self-paced and allows the student to work with ease from their home and have interaction with the course instructor in the web class.

For technology minded people who want to receive the education it is an option, that is a great value and focused...

This isn't for everyone, so for those who want to sit in a classroom setting with an instructor, they can make other choices...

I just wanted to provide an accurate and complete assessment of what is being offered...Sorry if anyone is upset or offended by the post...This is not an advertisement per se, because Dave would have problems with that...It is just stating the facts about what is offered by the Institute so people can make up their own mind about what is available for completing their training...

There are literally dozens of training programs around the world that are all good in some way...This is what makes selecting a training program so hard...This is why it is important to give honest facts when mentioning this program or that program...

Thanks again and you have no need to think it was offensive to me...I appreciate your comments...

I think I am cautious of anything certified by the Korean Government. The only thing that really tells me is that the test will be easy.. But just my thought on it.
