Brock Lesnar!
I hope he squashes Choi Pyungshin's head to a bloody pulp! I've said before, Pyungshin's big and clumsy, no power to his punches. He'll kick and play dirty with the kneelifts.
Lesnar has more grappling and technical skill...but then again he must be rusty from being out of the loop so long....For that reason I'll give Pyungshin a whole round of survival, The second round he'll be kissing the mat! Lesnar in two rounds , hopefully less! I hope Lesnar gives him an F-5! Go Lesnar!!! |

Is this a K1 or MMA match?
Grappling skills aren't exactly relevant in a K1 match. |

Sure. He left to play pro football. His last match was at a Wrestlemania maybe 3(?) years ago. Couldn't make the cut. Sued the WWE on their no-compete clause. Went to Japan, became one of their champs, then left like a thief in the night with the title and the title belt in his possession. |

It'll be a MMA match, and it should be very interesting. I personally dislike Lesnar's personality, but he does have a good amateur wrestling background (NCAA champion) and is a naturally mean, arrogant guy. He apparently has been training for his MMA debut for a long time, and he's reportedly in great shape and confident.
There should be a big crowd at the L.A. Coloseum (holds over 90,000) and many Koreans are sure to be on hand. I'll be rooting for Choi along with them, but he'll need to be a lot more focused and better-trained than he was against Mighty Mo...
Fortunately, for him, I doubt that Lesnar has the one-punch striking power of Mo, and Hong Man does has some background in Korean-style wrestling - so he shouldn't be completely at a loss when they go to the mat...
I heard an interview given recently by Lesnar (on www.betweentheropes.com ) Here's a summary of a portion of it:
...The discussion started out with Brock being asked about the transition from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts. Brock said that he enjoyed "getting back to competing again. I was an amateur wrestler for 18 years, then I got out of it, but it's always been in my blood. Now, I'm training like an amateur wrester again, along with implementing my stand up, striking, and jujitsu. It has been really exciting because when I was done with amateur wrestling I was kind of worn out with it. Now it's refreshing while I learn the mixed martial arts game. It has really allowed me to make the adjustment."
Next, Brock was asked if he had any troubles transitioning from the competition of amateur wrestling into professional wrestling where he had to put on more of a show. Brock replied that "as a professional wrestler I used a lot of my amateur wrestling background and mentality. I approached every match as though I was going to go out there and compete. For me now it's definitely the real thing... it feels like I'm competing again, so I'm really at home with it."
Regarding his training Brock said "cardio is the key factor in any sport. If your gas tank isn't on full then you're not able to compete, you're unable to do any technique. Cardio is my primary focus." Brock said he has also been working on submissions and sparring while he trains 6 days a week and that as the fight draws near he has been working more on specific game plans and techniques.
Asked about the commonly held belief that wrestlers don't like being on their back in MMA Brock said "I think that it's some myth that some jujitsu guy made up after some wrester choked him out... I know he won't win by pinning me so I'm totally comfortable being on my back."
Brock then talked about what he was doing to prepare for his opponent, Hong-Man Choi, who is a seven footer and has a significant size advantage in the fight. "The guy is taller, so I've got to move my hands higher, the advantage is that he has a big-ass head which makes for a nice target... We've got to watch out for his reach, I just don't want to be at the end of his punches... If I can get inside and take this thing to the ground I think he's really going to be in trouble."

Korean wrestling doesn't have ANY mat component at all. If it does go to the mat, Brock has the HUGE advantage. If anything, Choi's 씨름 skills will come into play in takedown defense, but that's about it.
If Choi is able to defend against the takedown, the fight will go to him.
If Lesnar is able to take Choi down, the fight will go to him. |

Damn...that's a good question.
I've read the thread and I'm still not sure if this is a MMA or K1 fight.
If it's K1...I would think seeing it will be as easy as pie.
But if it's something else....I'm not so sure.
BUT since it does involve a Korean, I'm guessing that it will be easy to catch on the boobtube.
So.....Anyone got an answer? |

K-1 Hero's / Mixed Martial Arts
On April 28, 2006, Lesnar appeared inside the ring after the final match of K-1 HERO'S "Battle at Bellagio" and had since signed a one fight deal with K-1. He has been preparing for his first fight training with the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy under Greg Nelson coach to UFC Lightweight champion Sean Sherk and with University of Minnesota Head Assistant wrestling coach Marty Morgan.[2] Lesnar announced on August 12, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada that he has joined the K-1 promotion.[78] Lesnars first fight will be on June 2, 2007 against Choi Hong-man of Korea, at the combined promotion event Softbank presents DYNAMITE!! USA in association with ProElite, a major pay-per-view event at the massive Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Lesnar will be headlining the event.[79]
