Hello folks,
I'm contemplating the idea of teaching in South Korea, and have been in contact with a company called KE Enterprises. I've had trouble finding information about this employer and am hoping that one of you can enlighten me. Is it a bad sign that the recruiter was unwilling to give the contact info of other teachers in the program? Would I be well advised to seek out a better program? Any information that anyone has will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kyle |

RED FLAG
If you can't speak to other teachers DON'T, and I repeat... DON'T TAKE THE JOB |

What if the recruiter promises to give me some names once i've been hired at a specific school?
Also, does anyone have any advice about how to find an adequate program? I really want to make the trip and give it a try for a year, but I'm also nervous that things could go wrong, at the expense of my sanity. |

A good school and recruiter not only will let you talk to the other teachers, they will also protect the current teachers from having too many prospects calling them. There is a balance here.
So, it's reasonable that you should interview with the recruiter and then the school manager(s) or owner before they give you teacher names to talk to. They have to decide they want you. Only then should you expect to see a contract and talk to other teachers.
But, although you may have agreed in principle to a job, you shouldn't return the signed contract until you talk to the other foreign teachers.
And if a contract has really bad terms, don't fight to change them, just look for a better school. |
