i waited 8 months before i tried to order (last weekend), i wanted to be able to say everything perfectly, i really didnt need to because its actually really easy. No great linguistic achievement at all, and doing it completely made my day.
You only need to know what you want and your address, same as home.
Maybe just say waygoogin imnida , hangun mal jal muteyo. 'Im a foreigner i dont speak korean well' and they will speak slowly for you ( or hang up) - Then they just say what you want and where you live.
good luck, don't be scared. |

thanks again. i gave it a go, but didn't have much luck. gather the haejangguk place don't deliver to my area, so am now trying to get the courage for a dominoes.
'hangeul mal chal moat a-yo' is my standard korean phrase. said with a smile it wins over most!
its just feeling confident isn't it? theres something more nerve wracking about the phone though |

Just start with where you live:
ie.."momomo" office-uh tel imnida.
then they'll ask you for your phone number and address. By now the dude/dudette has probably figured out your not Korean. If you can say your phone number and address in Korean than do so if not, most Koreans are pretty good with basic English numbers.
I usually say what I want to eat with the phrase "moguh shipayo" ie. "cheecken weeng moguh shipayo" That should pretty much cover it.
Some places, like Papa John's, keep it stored in their computer so everytime you call they already know your address and phone number. Big places like these also make sure their staff have basic English.
cheers. |

Don't be afraid to call Dominoes. You can speak English to them and they always have someone there who can speak some English. Then, once you've ordered from them one time, they have a record of your phone no. and address. Next time you call they know who you are and you don't have to go through the whole address thing again. Pizza Hut is the same way. |

thanks again for the tips. after a few knock backs, don't know if its cos its a holiday, or cos they didn't deliver to my area, i ended up braving the rain, and stocking up on junk in family mart. its what holidays are for! |

That's what I do - stock up on junk. I've noticed that I'm too tired/lazy to cook after work so I just eat junk. Last night I had half a tub of ice cream and a roll of kimbap in that order Do people actually cook cook or do they take drastic shortcuts like me? |
