Jesus all the way....advantages include

1.having god as your father
2.Muhammed is the referee and he considered Jesus prior prophet...fat boy wasn't even a theist so his opinion counts for crap
3.In Revelation Jesus is coming back and he's going to throw Satan into the bottomless pit...if he can do that da buddha is toast

i think buddha would realize the futility of fighting, or doing any activity at all, so it would be a free for all w/ jc pummeling him

any dude who can rise from the dead should be feared in a fight

on the other hand, in theory buddha-having reached enlightenment-could remove himself from this realm of birth & death

then how is the mighty mr. ascension, jc gonna beat on him then?

in the end though, you can't deny the lasting influence of confucious on this part of the world--i have no doubt, as i'm sure many koreans would agree, that confucious could mix it up w/ any of the big boys--if anything his uptight codebook might wear them down simply by the fact that you can't get rid of him, he's like the terminator

i agree a distinction must be made between the half-starved, emaciated buddha of legend (from India)

and the fat (symbolic of spiritual wealth) Chinese restaurant buddha

i would not want to be on the receiving end of a beating from restaurant boy

I say Buddha would persuade Jesus not to fight and start following his teachings. Then Jesus would tell his disciples, "Okay, I don't need sex from you guys anymore."

I think you are confusing Jesus with Indiana Jones. If Indiana Jones somehow got mixed into the fight, he'd win of course. Jesus and Buddha would be doing all of this fancy schmancy diety stuff, walking on water and all that, and Indiana would just pull out his gun and shoot them.

The plot thickens as far as my students go. I showed them this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvYpK6dYIoI, of an anaconda regurgitating a hippo (I know hippo's don't live in South America).

Anyway, we were in the middle of talking about the Jesus Vs. Buddha fight, with both students saying it would be a draw, with no clear cut winner.

So I asked them if Buddha would beat the anaconda, and they both said that of course he would. Jesus didn't fare so well though.

I love my job.

HAHA!

Buddha is removed from all earthly matters, unable to interact and completely passive...

Now....Jesus well he is a 'doer' ....my money is on him Smile

jc has the upper hand

he'd simply have to do what christianity has done for centuries:

preach love, meekness, and forgiveness while pummeling you into submission

Most people didnt' become a Buddhist because it was the most popular religion...they didn't go to temples or attend zen centers to meet women. They became a buddhist because it offered them salvation by revealing the truth of who they are without denying the truth or the realities of the world they live in. So Buddhism is just like a philosophical thought it is a way of life, a pseudo religion that is supported through organized institutions.

You'd have to be a little discouraged when your opponent rises from the dead.

Not the liberal hipster kids in Cambridge, MA. They go to the Zen centers with their indie rock band shirts on and long hair and beards and try to pick up chicks. Same thing at the yoga places. Because, like, Buddhism is so hip and you get free vegetarian food and they go stoned because it really brings you to this higher level, man.
