A pig like that ought to be in a zoo or at least an museum.

Nope.

Meanwhile, why did dad and his hunting chums have high-powered rifles while Junior only had a desert eagle?

Would've made quite the story if Junior had been gored to death.

No. The pig reminds me of some of the ones from the movie here:

This wasn't some animal from an over populated group like deer. I figure that any good hunter would realize that killing rare animals is bad conservation and wouldn't do it

I will agree that a hog that size is rare however wild hog are not. They are all over the place ranging in just about all 50 states and do an incredible amount of damage to crops.

Yeah, shame they invaded us like that!

FYI, it was on a game preserve.

The first postive quote on the kid/father's website is:
Quote:

Jamison,
Stone's are great and so was your trophy. Enjoy your time in the spotlight and remember God put that boar in your sights for a reason. This will be a big growing experience for you, whether you realize it or not yet. Best of luck in the movie and keep up the good grades.

remember God put that boar in your sights for a reason. ???

Now I don't WISH this to happen but if the boy's father dies of heart attack from eating all that damn pork, is jamison gonna feel the guilt of responsibility for the death or feel great for doing God's work?

A commercial game preserve. This animal wasn't on the back forty or in the national forest. It was fattened up and slaughtered when it got big enough.

Quote:
Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Monster Pig. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

It's a canned hunt with semi-feral animals. The kid took the animal down with a pistol. Not to say that it wasn't a high powered and large caliber pistol, but who hunts large game with a sidearm? If it was a real hunt, they would have used those rifles.

I didn't know it was legal for a child to have a gun in the U.S. I don't think it's appropriate to have someone under 16, at least, shooting weapons. The hog the kid took down was amazingly huge. It would have been cool in a zoo as someone said.

FRUITHURST, Ala. - The huge hog that became known as "Monster Pig" after being killed by an 11-year-old boy was raised on a farm where it had another name: Fred.

Phil Blissitt said he purchased the 6-week-old pig in December 2004 as a Christmas gift for his wife, Rhonda, and they sold it to the owner of Lost Creek Plantation after deciding to get rid of all the pigs at their farm.

He told The Anniston Star in a story Friday that the sale was four days before the hog was killed in a 150-acre fenced area of the plantation.

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/06/02/monster.pig.ap/index.html

The hog named "Fred" was raised on Alabama farm from 6 weeks old
Fred was sold 4 days prior to being hunted with a pistol in 150-acre fenced area
Farmer said Fred has become a "nuisance"
Not uncommon for farm-raised pigs to be sold to hunting preserves

As someone already stated, it was a canned hunt.

Another thread in need of photos.
No doubt about it- the pig is freaking' huge!! It is a shame that a master specimen of any species has to die,
especially by a fat-assed 11 year old white-trash redneck with a gun bigger than Dirty Harry's.
On the other hand, if you're out hunting, it'd be hard to pass it up.

His website is up and running-
http://www.monsterpig.com/

Why is the kid always out of focus in these pictures? Because he's standing far behind the pig to make it look bigger than it really is?

If the kid was average sized and not a butter-ball, the pig would look even bigger. The dad's over 6 feet, and he's still dwarfed by the size.

Face it. The pig is huge. Too bad it was like shooting someone's pet. Hardly something to be proud about.

And shooting it with a pistol? How many times must he have shot that pig for it to die? Just idiotic cruely, hit it between the eyes with a good rifle and avoid getting lead in your pork chops...

Then why do they take the pictures in a manner that makes it look bigger? Really, I've heard of tall tales about the fish that got away, but come on...
