Seems none of you can really read. Basically, she broke up with him. He THEN sends the email to her after he gets back to Australia.

He was probably dating the girl for a few months, and as Korean girls tend to do when they want to call it off, just disappear--no phone call, no "Sorry, I want break up" or anything. This method of breakup can quite p1ss the typical Western guy off. His revenge was an email to get her to worry.
The guy's a scumbag, no doubt, but what does this have to do with the hagwon association? What does a domestic dispute between a boyfriend/girlfriend have to do with them? It's hilarious. If some Korean dude was beating the *beep* out of his girlfriend out in front of their hagwons, they'd do absolutely jack-all. However, because an English teacher and his girlfriend got in a pissing match through email with each other, they suddenly become the valiant knights-of-armour protecting the Korean public from the scumbag English teacher.

What a bunch of racist clowns.
Exactly.

It says that 10% are fired for sexual misconduct OR not teaching classes. That's a pretty big "OR" in my books.

Never heard of that association anyway.

Haha, yeah, another overloaded statistic with a reliable source (a recruiters association! haha). As if sexual misconduct or refusing to teach classes would be the only reasons to get fired.

Hmm...he works for them or for one of their hakwons? Could that be it? If the fellow had done that back in the West he could be sued and jailed for deliberately putting someone at risk of getting a deadly disease..there's been cases like that. If you worked for a company back home and told one of the other employees you had an affair with something like that, at the least you would be fired.

Getting blacklisted is a rather mild punishment by comparision.

You sure on this? Are you SURE a company could fire you because you wrote a private e-mail to someone you were in a relationship with and advised them to go for testing?

Any company that fired someone for that would wind up being sued themselves.

The guy got in a fight with his girlfriend and decided to scare her by telling her he slept with two prostitutes and dropped the HIV word. Big deal. It's a scumbag thing to do, but it's *not the same* as being HIV-positive and deliberately affecting someone. They are only twisting it to sound like that's what he was doing, because, well, they are a bunch of racist clowns.

If your ex-girlfriend back home sent a letter like this to your employer, you'd probably embarass everyone and they wouldn't be too proud of you, but no, you wouldn't get fired. You need things like evidence to do something like that.

EMail is allowable evidence in a court of law, at least on Judge Judy it is.

I would think it would be appropriate to give that email to the authorities from where it originated.

That EMail was Malicious, "I think you desrve it" are his exact words.

How does this garbage make it into a national newspaper?? No evidence or quotes. Lumping sexual crimes with refusal to teach!!!
Can you imagine the fuss if a foreigner here actually committed a serious crime.

True. It's like saying 10% of all Koreans arrested in America are prostitutes or murderers. Wait, actually, that total is probably well over 10%.

Wow......I can't help but laugh at all the anti-waeguk propaganda that still floats around Korea, especially the type proliferated by the media.

Again, is this the actions of a country that strives to be a "hub of Asia"?

Read the article again. They say 10% but then their actual blacklist only has 68 people on it. So out of 30,000+ teachers only 68 made the blacklist???? Don't worry, anyone with a brain can figure this out for the bunk that it is. Those who are too stupid dont matter cause they will always hate us.

That's not what happened. He told her that he KNEW that he might have HIV but was "too scared to tell her". There is a big difference between advising someone to get tested and saying something like "oh by the way when we were having an affair, I thought that I might have AIDS, but I didn't get tested or tell you."

Back in the West he would be fired for putting an employee at deadly potential risk, not to mention he is leaving himself open to 'mental anguish' lawsuits by the partner.

If you like I could provide links to a few cases where people have been charged with using HIV as a deadly weapon.
