| So, BJWD, what do you have to say about this one? |
I'll give you one post, despite my rule of not posting while on vacation.
What do I have to say?
1) Religion is a mental disorder. To all of you. If you believe in god you are weak minded to the point of mental illness. Hindu, muslim, jew, christian, multiculturalist, all of you. Bat S.H.I.T. Crazy. If someone is talking to you in your head, you need to fix your head. Final answer.
[Psychologists do not consider believing in God or religion to be a mental disorder. The majority of people have a belief in some higher power, and scientifically it shows that meditation which comes from religion has merits and so does prayer. Religion has its merits, obviously. That is different than people saying God talked to me last night, BJWD. You are portraying most people on this board as people with disorders since they don't agree with your belief- atheism.
2) What crazy religious types do in crazy religious nations is not my concern. Israel is included in this. I want crazy religious people kept out of Canada. We have enough of our own. I am just as in favour of keeping crazy religious jews out of Canada as I am crazy religious pakistanis.
[Really? You posted some video about what a fellow in England thought.
I didn't know Canada annexed England. You also posted about that woman of Somali extraction who was a Dutch citizen. So you do care, actually.
3) I do not feel the need to be balanced. When this, and virtually every other site on earth focuses almost exclusively on the USA and the real and perceived crime thereof with scant reference to
i) the genocide(s) of Africa
ii) the cultural genocide of Tibet
iii) the human rights situation around the world
iv) Canadian crimes against aboriginal people (for Canadians who live in a BIG GLASS HOUSE and yet throw stones
v) forced abortions in China (where are you on that bb? Or, do only American women inspire you? Do women have to be white in order to gain your concern?)
vi) etc etc
[I think several people have talked about the Sudan and what happens there. I know I have, Ddeubel has. I, for one, have discussed human rights in most places. People have also discussed Zimbabwe on this board. So I don't think you are actually portraying the forum accurately.
I do not have to be "balanced". I think islam is philosophical pollution. In fact, I can prove it so. A 4 year old with a slightly sharp mind should be able to see the koran for the disgusting hate-filled garbage it is. It is total crap. islam is a fast spreading cancer and pretending it isn't, or that muslims don't actually believe their own religion, is just plain dumb.
[Why don't you have to be balanced? You have to defend your position if you are making positions on the board. What is the difference between a 20 year old looking at the Quran and the Torah. You never answer that.
Have you read Deuterotemy? Chomsky spoke of that I believe in Manufacturing Consent or some other lecture.
Religion is relative. Yes, Muslims believe in their own religion, but you are assuming they are like aliens and unlike other people in the world. Why do I say that? You assume they actually can quote all the quotes you focus on. People don't do that in Canada when it comes to the Bible. I can quote the Bible in some cases, but most people just can't. Also, in modern times who attacked whom first? Was it the Arabs or those from the West? The answer is clear the West drew first blood and the East has been reacting ever since, but this is not in your equation at all. It needs to be part of your picture. However, that would attack the thrust of your argument. Who has really attacked whom the most? The answer is clear. The terrorists are real, the fanatics are real, but so is colonialism, exploitation, a questionable war, sanctions that were quite inhumane.
But, i do not dislike the bizarre islam (not facing meccah while crapping? WTF) more than the others. I dislike the protection given to islam by idiots like bb and dd who are unable to look past the race (and customary victim status of that race) of the people who tend to hold it. These type of people are the real racists. They believe that racial "minorities" (every non-white is a minority to these people) are unable to handle criticism in the way that are whites. Racists. dd, you are a racist.
[I believe you meant that Muslims cannot pray if they are experiencing flatulence. Is that what you meant? And people wear things on their head when they pray towards a Wall and people kneel towards a statue called Buddha. We are talking about humanity, people.
DD and BB are racists? That's a wild charge. By the way, Islam unlike Judaism is not a race. Bosnians and Albanians are white. I don't think this is about race at all. Speaking of bigotry, I think most people would think that the video of that British fellow you posted with the video had some good points, but he was rather bigoted in the way he made them.
Bigotry against white people, black people, or Koreans are not excusable. When dealing with Cho who killed people in the U.S. you jumped very quickly making conclusions about the incident based on how Koreans are supposed to be. That is a demonstration of judgementalness. That's clear.
I believe that they can. I believe that they ought to be held to the same intellectual and moral standard that are secular Westerners. Because they are equal is all ways but culture. And culture isn't their fault.
But I like that you girls obsess about me while I'm laying on a beach sipping booze out of a pineapple. That means I'm in your mind. |
[What about religious Westerners versus religious Easterners?
You are comparing apples to oranges. You called us girls and then call us racist? I guess your sexism really bolsters the arguments you are making. No, we are saying that you are overfocused and obsessed about a certain group but never quote anything about Hindus, Jews, or Christians. It is always the Muslims and they are never victims, never harmed, have not been exploited, colonialised, starved, bombed etc....
That is what is missing. Think about that one while you're sipping your drinks and when you are looking at the humans around you, think of what humanity is all about. Ghandi said "I am a Muslim, I am a Jew, I am a Christian, I am a Hindu." He was true humanist, not a sectarian. |

I copied this below from what I wrote on my website. I would also add that I love America and she is a sparkling light (still) for the world. But as I've said many , many times, I disagree with her addiction to the military/war . So do many, many other fine scholars and even some who were professional soldiers ( I'm thinking in particular of Andrew Bacevich
who wrote a very powerful work on this topic.). I'm against an America which promotes war for profit and which will eventually hurt and pull down the country into bankruptcy and loss. (if it hasn't already). I"m against the power politics of America.
But what I praise is below, everything Whitman said and more......I find American generosity of spirit, her intelligence and diversity at the edges, her openess to change, the individiual - I find all this great.
But too many Americans such as yourself have been duped recently and I think much of that has come due to America's own strengths unfortunately. That Americans don't travel, understand other culture enough (on the whole). |
DD I hold you to your own standard.....so you made a nice blog about your travels in a America....good job...But look at the number of posts you have made here about America being the Big problem....Soooo many...much more than you have ever said about Islamic Ideology being the problem....that's why I called you on your own boogey man comment....regardless of your "love" for America...notice how easy you can generalize about that country but you scream bloody murder when people generalize about Muslims...(funny most think Homosexuals should be punnished somehow.....let alone the number of people who think they should be put to death) I don't think you are nearly as 'objective' as you think you are. |

. . . I've enjoyed watching the program "Couscous and Cola" on Al Jezeera recently. Along with their 48, a great and insightful program, showing how these young, Dutch Muslims think and view the world. We need more of this kind of thing. Anyone else seen it?
DD |
Sounds interesting, DD. I have read that Al-Jazeera's English language edition is now available throughout the English-speaking world except some backwards country where they claim to love free speech but not if their corporate elites feel any way threatened that the free speech in question will cause their herds to start thinking for themselves and question the choices those elites make on their behalf. Somehow, I forget the name of that country.
Anyway, I'm living in the Land of the Morning Calm these days and don't have a television anyway. Is there any way this program can be watched on the Internet? |
