Does anyone have advice on low-cost summer vacation ideas? I'm going to Thailand at Xmas and Vietnam at Chusok, so I'm trying not to spend too much money going somewhere for summer vacation. As expected, every trip out of the country is jacked up in price starting from about July 20th until the end of August. I was wondering whether anyone has advice on something to do, perhaps for just a couple of days during my summer vacation (July 28-August 5). I was thinking about just staying in Korea, but I'm not sure what to do....I'd like to get out of Seoul for a few days. Any advice?

I am staying in Korea for summer vacation as there are good rafting, hiking, sightseeing, fishing, camping, and many other activities to enjoy during the summer. I plan on touring Gyeongju, Soraksen, Suwon, and Seoul. I am also hoping to make it to a trout stream too in Gangwando province. These are some ideas if you like outdoor activities and don't mind sweating in the humid July weather.

As you might already know, because 20 million Koreans get July 28th through August 5th off, flights and vacations are crazy expensive. I say it's rediculous for everone to have the same time period off as there are not enough trains and planes for us all to go at the same time. I only hope I can get around Korea without having to make train and bus reservations like you would have to for Chuseok travel.
