Meanwhile, why did dad and his hunting chums have high-powered rifles while Junior only had a desert eagle?

I will agree that a hog that size is rare however wild hog are not. They are all over the place ranging in just about all 50 states and do an incredible amount of damage to crops.

A commercial game preserve. This animal wasn't on the back forty or in the national forest. It was fattened up and slaughtered when it got big enough.

It's a canned hunt with semi-feral animals. The kid took the animal down with a pistol. Not to say that it wasn't a high powered and large caliber pistol, but who hunts large game with a sidearm? If it was a real hunt, they would have used those rifles. |

I didn't know it was legal for a child to have a gun in the U.S. I don't think it's appropriate to have someone under 16, at least, shooting weapons. The hog the kid took down was amazingly huge. It would have been cool in a zoo as someone said. |

FRUITHURST, Ala. - The huge hog that became known as "Monster Pig" after being killed by an 11-year-old boy was raised on a farm where it had another name: Fred.
Phil Blissitt said he purchased the 6-week-old pig in December 2004 as a Christmas gift for his wife, Rhonda, and they sold it to the owner of Lost Creek Plantation after deciding to get rid of all the pigs at their farm.
He told The Anniston Star in a story Friday that the sale was four days before the hog was killed in a 150-acre fenced area of the plantation.

If the kid was average sized and not a butter-ball, the pig would look even bigger. The dad's over 6 feet, and he's still dwarfed by the size.
Face it. The pig is huge. Too bad it was like shooting someone's pet. Hardly something to be proud about. |
