I've always heard how Russia has far more women than men. I know that on average worldwide, granted there's selective abortions, 105 boys are born to every 100 girls and this usually evens up to 100-100 around the ages of 18-25, after which usually in most populations there are more women than men.
But, Russia seems to have a far greater imbalance than most countries. Is it to do with alcoholism and heart failure, many Russian men dying young due to alcoholism and heart problems?
Russia has contributed a lot in the fields of art, dance, science, space exploration and sports. But, the Russia of today seems a very divided, violent, angry, uncertain and depressing place. Hopefully, it will find its feet again. |

communism was a great achievement, even tho it didn't work, you could also argue that capitalism didn't work in america and europe, and is an even bigger *beep* up in russia
soviet russia was responsible for a lot of good as well as bad, if you think about the size of the place, and the difficulties that the geography of it throws up, the fact that they had zero unemployment and everyone was entitled to free education and healthcare is pretty amazing |
