My fiance, and I are going to be taken a vacation next month, and it's her first time ever leaving Korea. Not too sure where to head.

A good beach is definately a must, as is food.

Also looking for affordability.

But also looking to see something cultural.

Goa is tempting, but I don't think I want to hit India for only 5 days.

Never been to Thailand, not sure I'd want to take her.

Anywhere in China?

Is Japan worth it?

How about the Philippines?

Already done Cambodia... Vietnam?

No... I've done Cambodia and feel that I've seen what there is to see. 5 days isn't enough time to do Angkor Wat and the beach, too much traveling.

Having a good beach is essential. Haven't been to Vietnam.

Phillipines would be a good call, especially Boracay. Very, very, very Korean friendly. However, it's a pain to get to and from there and you might waste a good portion of your trip in transit. 5 days might not be long enough to enjoy it.

Malyasia seems to be the best place in terms of bang for my buck and airfare... any recommendations?

Go to the Perenthian islands on the north east coast

Nice snorkeling and diving.

Tamanagara national park is good as well - I spent two weeks there. Don't get dengue though it's not very nice.

Cherating on the north east coast is a nice beach town as well. Good nightlife.

I love Malaysia. Great place to go.

If you only have 5 days, there is now way you can get to the Perhentian islands and actually enjoy them, especially while going to Taman Negara Park. You could make it to Tioman island though as they have flight right to the island.

Philippines would be a good bet as well. You can fly to Cebu and get a flight right to the island beside Boracay, take the boat over, and it wouldn't be too difficult.

get a taxi

KL to the boats at the perenthians will take five or six hours.

Get the taxi driver to take you back or organise another one.

Won't be able to fit in the jungle and the islands. Have to make a choice.

Thailand reportedly has some excellent beaches (except during tsunamis...) and a lot of Koreans go there.

Pattaya may be too degraded, but small islands like Ko Samet and Ko Samui sound like great spots... For culture, there's always the "Grand Palace" in Bangkok - or a short flight to Chiang Mai...

The Philippines is wonderful (I grew up there), and there are loads of beaches, awesome food, and just about everyone speaks English. Friendly folk.

Thailand is great as well....Koh Phagnan (sp?)is a great little island, and you can get a flight from Bangkok direct there. They have LOADS of little beachs and resorts....there are some that are deserted and very romantic. I found one online and booked it in advance, and it was reasonable, great food, and quite secluded. Called Baan Panburi....I wish I could remember more about it, it was 3 years ago.

Travelfish.com is a good resource...found good places on there.

Ko paghnyang is full of drop out hippy types.

If you fancy seclusion fly to Trat go to Ko Chang get onto the island then take a private boat to one of the outlying islands.

Expensive but secluded.

Boracay is a great place but not if you aren't into water sports (um, the kind in he ocean). All there is there is scuba/snorkeling, jet skis and the like, and prostitutes. The nightlife can be very dead. The scuba is excellent tho, and cheap to get certified.

If you want out of the way with a beach and great food I would recommend Thailand. Safer than the Philippines too. With only 5 days tho you might want to skip Bangkok entirely. I've only done the islands in the north, Koh Chang and Koh Samet. Koh Samet was more out of the way/less tourists but more expensive becuz of that.
