Hey, I don't know if this place is still open anymore, but for all those who put the ol' giros on the list, there is (or was- dunno) a place right near the main entrance of Ewha University... They may try to funk up your giro with ridiculous Korean items (yup, they've got corn... pineapple too, dammit), but if you're specific, I'm pretty sure they do it semi-decently. The owner used to have a place in Toronto or something... They had some other stuff, like pilaf or whatever, but I was all about the giros. It's a bit tough to find, but it's on that road running parallel to the main entrance, and the restaurant's sign just says "Giros"..... Might satisfy some cravings.
By the way, why hasn't anyone been missing PYROHYS? Had to make some myself last year, which took a good few hours... |

Gecko's garden has a really delicious fillet minion, served with sauteed asperagus and veggies...and if you go on weekends they have a bbq menu that's pretty cheap....in fact the restaurant on the whole has really delicious food!!! if you haven't already you should try it...don't go in a hurry tho, slow service! |

.. don't forget to mention the small-arse portions and the jacked up prices on the main menu... as one of my friend's put it "you pay for the atmosphere" - which personally is a load of crap... but regardless.. |

I don't know, I find the fruit and vege (and I've tried a variety of places) to look nice but taste gross. Apples that taste like flour, fruit on the verge of going off etc.
I used to buy direct from the orchard back home but it just doesn't taste as good here.

I just remembered hamburger steak and meatloaf. Plus that macaroni casserole with the browned cheese on top.
I'll also add cranberry juice.

You can get chips and Salsa at Carrefour too... (the good stuff.. not that koreanized salsa you get from Mini Stops)
|
say what? carrefour has them? Not the one in Bucheon, that's for sure. Carrefour has decent spaghetti sauce, some cheeses, but beyond that I find it no better (or worse) than E-mart. |

Kenny Rogers Roasted Chicken.
To the best of my knowledge there's none in Korea.
Have to save my $ and go to Manila or KL to get the fix over winter. |

Every Carrefour I've been to in Korea has had Pace Salsa, which is really good, and some decent chips (not great but decent)..
Can't say I've ever been to the one in Bucheon, but usually there is a little "western" section in every store.. if not, I've noticed the one at Bangdok station keeps them near the spaghetti sauces... |

I miss calzone and English bitter, but I like a lot of korean food, so 'no worries' from me. |

yeah, i've been up and down that aisle tons of times, no luck. Salsa isn't my problem though, i can get that at costco. Chips are what I'm looking for. That and sour cream. I guess I should go to Hannam Supermarket for those. |

This has less to do with Korea but does pertain to teaching abroad and missing some things from home. When I was in Taiwan it was hit-or-miss finding large, whole, dill pickles at the supermarkets. I moved from one city after my first year to another and their supermarkets didnt carry them at all. Flash forward a year later and my first meal upon returning to the U. S. was an entire (albeit small) jar of dill pickles and a Gatorade (not available where I was in Taiwan)!
Bon apatite (sic?),
