End this thing. End it now. Congress could do it today, just by passing a bill that says BushCheney&Co can't write any more checks for this particular project. Congress doesn't want to do that, even though the last congressional election sent them the message it's what the voters want.
Maybe someone like Gravel will help the other candidates move where they need to go. I'm hoping he keeps opening his mouth. |
Kucinich is the one who keeps blaming the other Democrats for speaking about ending the war, and not ending it.
I haven't heard Gravel say that.. or at least not as articulately or in as much of a sensical way that Kucinich does.
Kucinich always talks about some bill that the Dems could pass that would end it right now even though Bush is Prez.
Gravel might say something to that effect (and most other Dems in a general kind of 'if I were President' kind of way).. but Kucinich always refers to something specific in this regard that they united as Dems could do today right now - some bill Kucinich has been trying to pass. |

Thanks anyway but I don't want to be comforted, and proridge is not on menu. I'm hungry for raw meat. And I want it cut to the bone. I'm disturbed aleady, and I'll be happy to stay that way for a while untl the rest of us get as disturbed as we need to be.
Haven't seen anything about this guy to make me think he's the one to win. Honestly, I don't think he does, either. He doesn't have the cred all the other ones do. BUT, I think he's saying what the people want. With even a little bit of luck, he might get the other candidates to at least t

Yes, as I said I am glad he is running to keep up his role as the king's fool who can speak the truth with some impunity.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the major candidates are going to move off the block on issues that threaten their support by the military-industrial/insurance/big pharma lobbyists. You can see just by how the candidates are arrayed on the stage that Kucinich and Gravel are being marginalized and dismissed.
I have been one to vote for the third tier candidate if I thought he was better than the other two. In the last election my sister (in California) and I agreed to cover our bases by me voting for Gore, and her voting for Ralph Nader out in California, where it would do no harm. Of course, we can see how that worked out for me.
This time, at this point in history, I will vote for the Democrat who is nominated, even if it is Hillary. Keep the candidates who speak the unvarnished truth around for the race, but when the time comes to choose a new administration, I am hoping for Obama or Richardson. Dream team? Obama, Gore and Richardson- President, V.P. and Secretary of State. And what a demographic they would appeal to! |

Gore's already been VP, and maybe he's had enough of it ... maybe if we turn it around? A Gore-Obama ticket? (Revised theme from the first Clinton campaign : "It's the climate change, stupid.")
Like you said, we're just dreaming ... |

We can see what a clever, smart, (albeit evil, in Chaney's case) vice president can accomplish. Gore is so tedious, but as smart as they come- a real policy wonk. Obama is smart enough (as in very) to take advice and leadership from Gore, and he would be so much nicer to listen to, let alone look at.
Richardson would be an historically great Sec. of State.
Yeah, it is my dream team exactly that way. Given that it is only a dream, I defend my right to have the best dreams possible! |

Others might disagree. I heard there are plans for an '08 pin-up Al Gore Climate Change Calendar. Word in your ear : Speedos!
Your globes just might get warmer a little quicker than you thought - we're talkin' beach shot locations in Vladivostock, Reykyavik, Nunavik and Tierra del Fuego ...

Obama looks damned good in a bathing suit. Not that it matters.
Could you imagine a pinup calendar of Gore and H. Clinton?
Our politicians should definitely wear suits. |

Yeah, SWIMsuits! Good enough for Miss America, why not for MR (or in Hillary's case MS) America?
Seriously, it was funny to hear you say you might vote for Barack because he's sexy. The guy's got one or two other things going for him. Or, at least I hope so ... come to think, what else is charisma except sexiness that appeals to men also? |

I never said I would vote for him because he is sexy- that is just a plus. I would vote for Gore if he opened his mouth and spoke with the energy and charisma of Obama, and spoke like something other than an uppercrust technocrat. And remember, he is married to Tipper "ban those lyrics" Gore. The pedantic couple of the century. Gore certainly won the right to be president, but I don't think his administration would be the new Camelot.
I like your definition of charisma. But some women have charisma too! |

Good point.!
I'm waiting for a Barack Obama / Salma Hayek ticket ...
Not sure if she'd make it as VP because she wasn't born in the USA, though.
(Sigh)
It's just not a perfect world ... |
