|
|
yesterday my boss and I got in a screaming match that nearly went to blows and ended with with loud FUs screamed across the office and I stormed out. My job is fully in tact, but nonetheless, I thought a good Irish joke that stresses the Irish temper (we're both Irish) might be appropriate as a peace offering.
Anyone know a good one? |

| Buy him a bottle of whiskey. A joke on irish temper probably wouldn't make him any happier. |

| The alcohol is probably clouding your judgement. You're most likely canned. |

I doubt it. I've done a half million dollar worth of sales in the last 30 days. |

(This one can be told with any Christian as the butt, not just Irish.)
Paddy is walking down the street and encounters a well known Jewish lawyer. He pops him one in the nose and says 'take that Solomon, you dirty Jew bastard!'
Solomon is aghast. "What the &*#$, Paddy. Why'd you do that?"
Paddy sputters "you crucified our Lord!"
Solomon says "but that was 2000 years ago, you drunken idiot."
"Ah, but I only found out about it yesterday." |

| You're both from the same part of Ireland? Talk about the championship will normally ease tension I find. |

I'm half Irish and half Dutch.
Half of me wants and drink and the other half doesn't want to pay for it. |

Shouldn't it be "the other half only wants to pay for half the tab"? |

I wish people would make their mind up! Are we Irish tempermental or easygoing??? Half the time I hear the stereotype of the easygoing, affable Irishman, and then I'll hear we have fiery tempers.
The fiery temper thing seems to me less true than the easygoing thing. |

Most excellent point.
For me, I'm the most laid-back, mellow person on the planet...until I reach a certain boiling point...then, I feel a surge creep up my spine. At that point, thankfully, one of my internally employed "gatekeepers" processes the information and makes sure my subsequent actions are under control at least to the extent of not doing anyone real harm...but I may go off" on someone verbally or if really provoked somewhat worselike getting my ass kicked, or not..
But, I'm a pacifist in essence and it's always just an (in reality) innocent episode and never, ever results in any real damage.
Ive never layed a hand on a woman in anything less than a sensual way and anyone who has needs helpis truly sick. That, to me, is the worst action a male can take and there is NEVER an excuse for it. I cant even process the thought of doing it. |

Well obviously they are just stereotypes but there does seem to be alot of easygoing types. The fiery temper only seems to come out with alot of alcahol and I think that applies to every country on this planet. I don't really fall into any oirish stereotype. I don't drink alot, I'm not ginger, don't have a fiery temper, don't beat women or anyone and have never said b'gorrah. I do have a pretty thick northern accent and have been known to label everyone south of Wicklow as leprechaun sounding fools.
Oh and back to the original query, I would say the most Irish way to solve this would just to never talk about it again. |
