Short answer is YES they do as long as they meet the same qualifications as anyone coming on an E2.

Oh, sweet honey. What a treat that would be to see signs on Hakwon buses warning Korean-Americans/Canadians/New Zelanders and the like that they are being 'watched.' And newspaper articles about the crack downs and busts of illegal Korean English teachers would be orgasmic. Embarassed Now I am not saying that I agree with illegals but the flip side would make for a scandalous headline in the Korean Herald.

I do not mean this as a racist post. I just think people sometimes need a cultural eye opener.

Common misconception that Koreans won't wire gyopo's.

Yup a MASSIVE chunk of the illegal teaching that's going on is gyopo college kids coming here for the summer to teach or taking a year off to teach. I know this because my hagwon hires them by the dozen and I get stuck having to manage/train a bunch of 20 year-olds who've never taught before Sad

I'm really starting to get sick of this question cause it comes up every few weeks. YES, god almighty there are so many places in Korea that hire Koreans who fit the qualifications for an E2!

I'm posting this because I also want to make it clear that schools also hire Indians and people from South Africa. I have met 1 black teacher and 2 Indian teachers. Do not be discouraged if you hear differently from people on this site or evil recruiters! You will have enough to be discouraged about once you get here.

If they have hired Indians from India (and the Indians are not on an F2 visa) as English teachers they violating visa rules. India is NOT one of the approved 7 countries. Neither is the Phillipines. Filipino teachers who are NOT married to Koreans are in violation of their visa as well.

If you are refering to North American Indians, then they are no different than any other E2 teacher.

South Africa is also one of the approved 7 countries for E2 - teachers of English - visas.

It is funny that this keeps coming up. You would think people would look in the FAQ forum and glean some of the truth from there.

I am Black. I teach at a public elementary. I'm on my second contract. I have an Afro (not one of those crazy Korean perm jobs that scare me). I know 2 other public school teachers in my city who are Black. If they were willing to hire us, I think they'll hire a gyopo.

Hey ttom, yes I should of been more clear in case someone reads this and misunderstands. The Indian and black teachers were all from Canada.
