I've seen many threads for looking for good food from country X, but I was interested in what good Korean restaurants people have found.

In particular I mean restaurants that are in the Western restaurant price bracket (so no 천국 김밥 or 우리 만두). If you want to spend say 15,000 Won per head on Korean food, where is the best place to go?

At least have a go at a nice full course traditional Korean meal. You can type in 한정식 into Naver or any search engine and get lots of results. It can definitely be more than 15,000 but something you gotta do. Most restaurants on the streets are good (the sit-down type) not the fast food type. The 한정식 restaurants are similar to most neighborhood joints but with more variety and typically a nicer atmosphere. What Korean restaurants have you been to? Only the fast food types? Some neighborhoods have sweet Korean restaurants arranged like western buffets. They are often 20,000 but have all kinds of traditional Korean yummies.

the problem with Korean food is that you can't really say a particular restaurant has the best korean food, except when talking about a full course traditional korean meal.

most good restaurants are known for one (or just a few) good dish. so people would go to a certain restaurant just to eat that dish. another restaurant might not be as good for that dish, but much better for another dish. korean restaurants in general are very specialized.

if you know korean, then the easiest way is to go to Naver and search for your locale + "맛집". then a whole bunch of recommendations should show up from Naver's 지식IN. i've also heard menupan.com is a pretty good site to reference.

Yeah, I've found a lot that in Korea, you choose what you want to eat, and then go to the restaurant as opposed to choosing where you want to eat and then choosing the dish.

I was just wandering if there are any good, well western style restaurants but serving Korean food as it seems that I either eat cheap Korean stuff or expensive foreign stuff.

The problem I have sometimes with the 'one dish specialty' places is if that dish contains meat I am screwed. As for places I have eaten in, well basically every restaurant in Anam, Half of Sinchon, Toppoki Town, and a fair amount of Ilsan. (Of course there are other places too.)

I'm not good with names.
