I'm thinking of taking a last minute trip to Japan if I can get a good deal. My question is about the visa... Can I get it at the airport here or there, or do I need to get it in advance? Not sure how it works... |

Do you mean a visa for Japan or the re-entry permit for Korea?
Make sure you have a re-entry permit or your Korean work visa will be cancelled when you depart. You can get this at the immigration office at the airport. The office is in the hallway behind check-in counter "F".
If you meant a visa to enter Japan - AND you are here on an E2 visa you do not need a visa to enter Japan. You simply need an exit ticket from Japan to get a 90 day entry permit.
The same is true for Korean citizens.
If you are a passport holder from another country then it will depend on your citizenship.

I'm a U.S. Citizen with an E-2 so I'll be sure to get the re-entry permit before I board at Incheon. And then an exit ticket from the airport in Japan when I arrive there, correct?
Sorry, I've never done this before... |

As a US citizen you may have a multi-entry visa. A quick check at the immigration office on your way through the airport will confirm it or give you a change to get a re-entry sticker if not.
I assume that you will have a round trip ticket to Japan. If so, you are good to go. The passport officer will staple your departure card into your passport when you enter so you won't lose it.
Have a good trip and no worries. |
