She'll be fine as long as she doesn't drive under the influence of alcohol or without a valid license. If she has any pot or drugs or anything, she should also be careful of that.

She just probably thought wtf and got a rude awakening that she isn't above the law. I don't really see anthying that proves that she's lost it.

Mr. Racetraitor: do the rich have a different justice system?

Yes!

Did Martha Stewart deserve jail time?

If she were not famous?

The rich often pay much larger penalties because of the high profile.

Equal justice does not exist. Sometimes rich folks get off or flee (like the unicorn killer), other times they pay dearly!

The middle class eventually gets their revenge.

Ask Marie Antoinette.......................

I don't have a direct source, but i remember reading that today's Tabloid fame and the interest in celebrity is a replacement for the old community gossip that existed before society became a society where we do not know our neighbors.

In the past, people gossiped about Fred and Ethel next door. Now, they gossip about celebrities.

Who has talent? This is a question for all performers. Some folks like Stallone or Arnie and other folks say they have no talent.

Paris' reality TV show was a major hit. Talent, or lack of it is all subjective.

The media has made this a top story. The obvious answer is that people are interested in her. People love to see a train wreck. People love the rich and famous. People love to think they know celebrities.

Even on this site there are numerous threads about "brushes" with fame. It's middle-class boasting at its best and it comes from "educated" professionals-- "Hey, I met so and so on the street in New York. NOW I am an expert on so and so!"

Ridiculous.

Only because people loved to laugh at her.

I don't think people really love the rich and famous. They want to feel better than them, which is why tabloid reporting focuses on scandals. When I see a celebrity get married, I laugh and wonder if their marriage will last a month.

I agree that much of the middle-class "want to feel better than them [celebrities]."

But the multitude of "fan" clubs for A-List or marginal celebrities is proof that there is a "love" factor. Probably a psychological profile would reveal that this "love" is somewhat misguided and misplaced, yet generally harmless in most cases.

Of course, not withstanding the nuts that stalk celebrities to harm or kill them.
