I didn't vote, because I think I fall outside of the options.

I speak enough to make myself understood, but I'm not having philosophical conversations in Korean. However, my listening and reading comprehension is much better. Not perfect by a long stretch, but much better than when speaking.

I know lots of vocabulary, but I'm too lazy to study the grammar (lately). Beyond a couple hundred (?) set phrases, I sound like a caveman when I string words together.

Life goes on. I took my study books out from hibernation a couple days ago. At least when they are on the table I can look at them and know what I should be doing in my spare time-like studying, and not writing this.

*sigh*

I envy those who just naturally pick up on other languages. My brain is hard-wired for English, and I think I would likely need shock therapy to achieve significant results in a reasonable time.

I saw the other thread on memorization techniques for learning Korean. I was laughing to myself, because the 우주 (space) one was exactly how I remembered it.

소개 (introduction) is also a pretty easy one. You also get 속에 (inside) for free with it as well. So gay.

Speak on a very basic level.

Can read in my level 1 Korean textbook from Yonsei.

But when it comes to listening and writing, I suck.

I can read, write and speak to about the same level - low intermediate.

Understanding lags at about beginner.

I can read but can't speak.

Everytime I try to speak, a Korean tells me that my pronunciation is terrible.

I was considering making "I can read, but can't speak" an option in the poll, but then I figured, well, anyone who can read can probably speak...guess I was wrong. Wink

As for your pronunciation, practice makes perfect! Don't let the naysayers discourage you...practice, practice, practice!

Laughing

To remember that one I pictured a dog being introduced to a cow, but yours is much better.
