I know someone started a topic about this a while ago, but I can't find it.
I just got told by my colleague that the Principal has a control panel to override the air-con throughout the building. We have been trying to figure out why my air-con is not working for weeks now. My classroom is on the top floor. It is hot all the time and classes have been really poor over the last few weeks- me, korean teachers and students all cannot be bothered. Every time I turn the air-con on, I go back to it ten/twenty minutes later (when I find myself starting to wonder why I can't breathe, or why the lesson has lost its focus) and find it has switched itself off. Now I know why. I want that b*stard to come up here and find out how hot it really is. F*ck him. |

Are you like Locke in Lost or something?
Can you push the button for my principal's office? |

Brainfart:
Have you tried talking to your boss? Mention to him that your classroom is hot? Ask him if it's possible to get a better functioning AC? Mention that you think there may be a problem with it because it keeps shutting itself off? Tell him that you find it very difficult teaching in such stiffling heat? Tell him that the students are very un-energetic in such an environment? |

In response to the brainfart:
I teach at a public school. The principal speaks no English. He is unapproachable. I will have to discuss this with my co-teacher, who is useless and being a very young girl will probably not even feel confident bringing it up with the principal. Another colleague found out the problem about thirty minutes ago. Naturally I will have to deal with it but for now I'm just angry that my principal is turning the air-con off himself. |

THERE ARE NO FRESH SHRIMP AVAILABLE AROUND HERE.
at least not in my little village, even if its only 27 km from Jebudo.
trust me, i've been trying to find some for cooking.
Anyhow...my classroom is hot as africa, we only have one window pane and there's not much of air circulation even with 4 ceilingfans.
My AC cant be turned on bc I share the same power breaker/ fuse with 3 other classrooms and if the AC is on, the fuse burns out.
I gave up using it, now when the kids are rowdy I threaten to close the windows and doors and leave the fan on for the entire period..........
some of them were literally scared to death.haha |

They wouldn't turn on the aircon today until after lunch. Something about them being short of power. Jesus you'd think we were living in the dark ages! My "office" is my classroom, and I'm not supposed to have the air on unless students are in here. However, the teachers' room is ALWAYS a cool 19 degrees. I can hang in there if I want but no computer /Daves.
I've been functioning fine because we have a nice breeze blowing through here with the ceiling fans, but once you get 40 warm bodies in the room...well, you know how that is.
If the air isn't on for class, I do not begin until it is. I send a student down there to get it turned on, and so far that's worked. So far... |

Now I'm really happy not to teach public school. I turn my classroom A/C on full blast all summer. It's just right for me, though some of the kids have to bring sweaters. |

Oh my god, your avatar. (jkelly). I lived in a house in New Zealand which had hundreds of copies of that image all over the walls. |
