damn that sucked, i met this guy at the bar last nite who took the loss a bit harder than most. a good canterbury man, apparently he left the pub looking for a fight, what a loser...

anyway, better now than at the world cup eh. nice wake up call for the boys. this tightens up the tri nations and the world cup nicely in my opinion. the tighter the competition the better. makes victory that much sweeter Laughing

I remember reading an article after yet another Kiwi RWC final loss (maybe 99) about how domestic abuse and general levels of violence escalate in NZ after All Blacks losses. You guys sure seem to take it hard, or at least some of you. One of your players also said in an interview a while back that he admired Australia's ability to move on after a loss. I think at times NZ stakes too much on the rugger and should just enjoy the fact that they have a very good team, albeit one that occasionally loses.

yes, we unrealistically expect to win EVERY game. Some of us stake a lot on the performance of the All Blacks. I think it was worse in the past because rugby used to be the only thing that New Zealand was known for.

Yeh I've heard about those statistics and I saw them in the eyes of that young man last night, God forbid if he had a wife and kid to go home to.

You guys were lucky to win against us in fairness too (Boks) .

I wouldn't write off the South African "B" team . The Aussie media has them pretty worked up and put a lot of pressure on the Aussie team . IIt won't shock me at all if we pull one over you boys . But New Zealand will be too strong for us at home I think .

Yeah, the loss yesterday hurts. I guarantee that every woman's refuge in New Zealand had a bumper night last night.

The Aussies outclassed the ABs I hate to say it. Great game to watch.
The positive outcome of all this is just how close the top teams are, meaning more gripping games to come and how it is any ones game coming into the world cup.

Dunno about outclassed, a few things went our way and we capitalised on a number of mistakes, as well as the yellow card. I think the loss will do you guys some good as you seem to suffer the same inflated opinion of your abilities to win the WC and then seem surprised at a semi-final defeat. I think the ABs will be more wary and learned than previous tournaments.

Yeah, I agree with the inflated opinion of world cup victory part. The reason is that every world cup, we truly BELIEVE that we will win. It doesn't help when you are always ranked first on the IRB ranking table year after year and have the best win lost record against any team on the planet. There is also a large sense of denial, similar to the denial a rational thinking Christian must feel, we want to believe, try to believe and we deny the possibility that we could lose the cup again.

Surely it's our turn again. Surely.
