First there was the SNAFU with the ownership of the name 'Rain', and now he's gone and canceled his first concert.

The reason offered was that the stage set-up wasn't done properly. I would suggest pricing and lack of people coming may have been a bigger issue:

I haven't been able to find anything by way of ticket sales numbers, but I'm thinking since in none of the stories anything is mentioned about the number of tickets that need to be refunded, nor is there any mention of 'thousands' of fans... we can figure it out for ourselves. I've played in enough shows and put on enough shows to know some of the tricks of the trade, and this one has a funny smell to it.

I recently had a bit of a diatribe with a friend about 'low-brow', moronic humour, but I have to take my diatribe back, because as it turns out, watching someone fall flat on their face IS funny... who knew?

My GF's company was working to bring him to Toronto and he backed out of that too. He claimed he didn't like the venue. Sorry, dude, you're not U2 in North America. 14 year old Asian girls might be a marketing execs wet dream in Asia but they're not the opinion leaders among North American youth. Trying to get us to re-import hip hop with some karate moves isn't going to do it.

The official position of Seoul Survivors is Rain is canceling these concerts because he's discovered most cities have strong Milli Vanilli legislation. "You mean I can't lip synch?" "No. We have things called class action lawsuits and we can all be sued for millions."

Wow, is that right? It's illegal to lip-synch?!

Why doesn't he just promote himself using the name "Bi?" That would probably go down well.

So both L.A and Toronto canceled because they "didn't approve of the venues".... Is that code for "we weren't selling enough tickets"?

Does this mean those stupid Korean entertainment shows have to stop refering to him as "world star"? Laughing

That's a good question. I'm being sarcastic, of course. But I'm sure in America it would not be difficult to launch a class action suit if one bought a ticket thinking one was getting a live performance and a substantial amount of the vocals were on tape... or whatever medium they put it on these days.

Maybe not the best choice of names. He'd end up being asked at every interview if he prefers men or women.

I would imagine it's more of a case of misrepresentation. If I went to a concert, paid $50 or more for a ticket, and all the did was lip-sync, you bet I'd be angry. At the very least I would demand my money back.

"Korean pop sensation Rain"

Hmm, could the translator be a fan of the Colbert Report? How devious of him or her to have snuck in this little bit of sarcasm... Twisted Evil
