I have a week off at the end of July and I am planning a trip round korea.
Can anyone give me a link for booking train or bus tickets?
Can it all be done online?
Any help is appreciated. |

yes and no -
most online booking for tkts you have to be korean; not always, but sometimes (it will ask for an id num and if your is from your arc they know the difference)
booking trains, you have to have (1) korean credit card (2) membership card which you can get - go to seoul station during the day and visit their tourist desk, it's like 20,000 w (lifetime membership) but is awesome, you can then reserve online anytime or change a tkt, whatever; again you have to have a KOREAN credit card
do you have a korean map in english?
and are you in seoul now?
you need a map of course - you might want to talk to tourist info that's 02-1330 (or dial your own area code if you are not in seoul, i.e., 031-1330) they can help you a lot
there's a central tourist info place in dwtn seoul will help you a lot
trains are cool but so are the buses - but often everything shuts down around midnight (not always) so just be prepared
happy traveling also you might want to check out the travel forum

I like the buses but I would get to the bus station in Seoul at 11:30 and the last return bus leaves at 6:55 PM. That makes a day trip pretty short.
I tried to take the train. Their website requires you to look up each city individually to determine if there is a route. You can't put in a beginning
and ending city and get a route.
I stopped by the train station in Gangnun. There was a chart showing the names of the trains and when they leave but it didn't have the names
of the cities they stopped at.
I bought a 100cc scooter and I'm just going to ride it from now on. I can get to Seoul in about the same time as the bus because I don't have to wait at each bus stop. |

The last return bus from where, exactly? All of the inter-city buses I've taken seem to run pretty late. The last bus from Busan back to Masan (1 hr away) is at about 2am.
You can put in a beginning and an ending city and get a route if you select the 'Transfer' option instead of the 'Direct' option. |

I'm in the middle of Gangwon-do. Maybe if I parked my scooter at the bus station in the next town I might have more buses to choose from and I might do that.
I'll try the train website again.
However, I think I'll still take the scooter, because it gives me a lot of freedom of movement when I get to my destination. I just have to be careful that I have enough gas and oil before the all the stations close. |

Yeongseon to Busan gives me nothing.
Yeongwol to Busan gives me nothing.
Is there a way to select all times or do I have to do the search for each hour? |

Don't waste your time going to Seoul. Catch a bus from the Incheon Bus terminal.
You can find the schedules on here:
http://www.ictr.or.kr/eng/guide/cross_use.asp
You'll probably have to buy tickets at the terminal. |
