We may be hard-pressed to bring the America's cup home from that cuckoo clock Swiss assh*le Bertarelli.

The All Blacks may look like they're on shaky ground for their World Cup campaign with a shock loss to the Wallabies.

BUT, we have a new hero that made my week after a depressing week in sport.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/topic/story.cfm?c_id=123&objectid=10449263

makes me proud and the chest swelled up a bit, proves there's more to life than sport and that we should all try and emulate the values this man displayed and the world would be a better place.

"I see him every day and it's a blessing," Corporal Apiata said yesterday. "Every time I see him, we have a beer and catch up. We're just good mates."

Cheers horse! I got some good Kiwi pride goose bumps reading that. That same surging pride I get when I see the haka, the black boat gliding out of a harbour, and Sarah Ulmer's thighs in tight spandex.....ohh shudder baby! I hope she comes back!

i've always dreamed of being in the SAS, well i probably don't have the right stuff for that to be perfectly honest but this guy's story has given me a good nudge to have a go in the regulars after putting it off all through uni.

Corporal Apiata has given me the inspiration to push through when things were starting to get a bit tough for me here and i'll ever be grateful to him and his ilk.
