Hey, i'm at a public school and thus don't speak much english during the day. Does anyone know of any good websites to learn Hangul. Is there a site that you can put in an english word and get the Korean equivalent if there is one?

A lot of the time for simple translations either way I just use the translator in Microsoft Word ... Translation is an option under
Tools - Language ... For more than simple translations I usually ask for help because much beyond word level the grammar comes into play and a correct translation becomes that much more difficult ... This is I think the main reason why some translations come out making no sense at all ... often the meaning does not come from individual words but meaning from words combined ...

There are fairly good websites and books out there ... but as someone who tried that route for a couple of months ... I have not found anything better than a class to really learn this effectively ... Hangul is so phonetic that I think you really need to hear it ... and practice speaking it (with feedback) ... to really learn effectively ... My most effective learning has come from a 3 hour beginners Korean class I attend on Saturday morning ... It means travelling for me because I am outside of Seoul and there are no options in my town ... but after a month I don't regret it for a moment ... and have just signed up for another month ... I think I was suprised at how much better it has been for me ... I know that I have an enormous amount to learn still ... but finally really being comfortable with the alphabet - both speaking, reading and writing ... and starting to learn more words ... is to me worth every cent I pay ... and the necessary time commitment ...

Hey Icicle

Where can I find information about the Saturday course that you attend?

I'm trying self-study but the only thing I'm mastering is sticksports baseball.

Thanks mate.
