You guys are full of s---. Stompers sux. Itaewon sux but in a different way. In hongdae everyone is stuck on themselves. In Itaewon everyone is wary of everyone else. Hongdae everyone is wary of how they appear i.e. cool enough or not. Take your pick, either place. You guys are totally full of you know what to say that people are actually hooking up in any of these places, even remotely. Everyone is so on edge there's simply no relaxation that would allow something like "further intimacy." Total proof that the internet is the quickest medium for downright lies.
Nice job guys, you've shown you're full of bologna. Anyone care to try and prove their online fantasies are still valid? |

nope, it's not about radiating anything, nor acting desperate. It's about hanging out, chilling back, soaking in the scene, occasionally but consistently saying "what's up" to people. Occasionally getting chats going, trying to maintain 1 to 2 chats per hour or the like. Try a little dancing, all the usual stuff.
Fact is I've seen the "scene" it's lame, you guys speak almost completely in fantasies. And like I said anyone care to prove that all the talk about "quick sex all over the place" is not just a made up story? Or for that matter, people hooking up and going on dates out of these places, or anything? Fact is they don't exist. These bars suk. Would like to hear why people talk about them as anything but. |

Hehe, good point. Actually it's not individual Muslims I would dislike or be afraid of it's potential terrorism. Actually would be delighted to sit down and talk deeply with a small table of Muslims as long as they weren't involved with violence. I've been to Bahrain, Muscat Oman, two cities in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) and heck a few other locations I've since forgotten off hand. That was all in the early 90s however.

Ok let's not get into a game of dig&paste. And also let's not start acting all confused too. Let me just recite a few topics of which I've read just in the last 24 hours alone. There was the user Derrek hey probably an alright guy but he posts messages that sounds like "man I just can't beat these women off me no matter what, Goddam how do you guys get rid of these chicks????" On other occasions I've seen him say "just about every Korean woman I've met either wants to sleep with me or is on the prowl" or words to that effect and "most housewives I know..." blah... Really Derrek the fact is that it's time, somebody has got to start calling this stuff for what it is and the way it comes across.
Ok what about that other user in I think the same thread, something like "man I had this hottie 29 year old, we bonked whenever I wanted and she still covers my bills even though we haven't talked in months cause she's rich." Like I said these are just from yesterday alone!!
This stuff is just constant, "women all over the place" and these "This place is turning me into a sl-t/hump and dump" comments all the time. And while alot of that stuff is on these message forums it's also been written on other boards as well. Don't try to play it off like "I really don't know what you are talking about I never said that" kind of stuff. Fact is either you or someone did say it or otherwise make these kinds of implications many times over. And THIS STUFF happens in just about every forum, just guys bs-ing about every field, the jobs they got, the 3 million a month, the penthouse condos, the 20 extra privates, the high-rate credit cards they were issued from a Korean bank even though no one else can get them, blah.... Meanwhile in reality no one can find privates, they're still getting barely 2.0mil, and they still have to share a flat with very little furniture and a smelly bathroom.
Look THE REALITY is these Itaewon/Hongdae clubs are pure packed with 90% men, it's just swinging d**ks wall to wall, and arrogant evasive women of only whom half are even Korean. And Korean society at large is even less foreigner friendly or should I say "intimate". And like I said anyone care to explain WHY you guys are so often writing about all the humping you're doing when it certainly can't be happening in Korea? It just shows me this internet stuff, and perhaps this forum, is as far from the truth as it can get, and you guys typing this stuff are something else not to mention full of hot air. Fess up, come clean of your internet fantasies. I've called you on it, now explain it head on or be proven wrong as is. |

What kind of proof are you looking for? As it happens, for reasons I don't want to explain, I happen to have streaming video of myself, mid-coitus, looking at the camera exclaiming "Check it Coffeecup!! It can be done!! It can be dooooooooone...!" |

I don't write about all the humping going on and these days I barely go out. I haven't been to Itaewon at night for a long long time and even if I do go to Shinchon or Hongdae I'm home before the subway stops. However, just to answer your question. . .
Back in the day (when East West actually had customers and Hooker Hill could barely contain the spill off from the bars and everything legally had to close at 12 [bar Itaewon] and Hongdae was for going out after-hours and most of the bar denizens were cool [bar me]) the only people who couldn't consistently pick up were usually just not able to figure out the right method of social interaction (not necessarily socially inept, mind, just not socializing the right way to consistently pick up).
One of my friends would pick up an average (we figured it out with a pencil and paper on a bar napkin) 3 times a week (he was a good-looking bastard). Another friend (who was in no way attractive) managed at least twice a month (figured out on the same napkin). I even knew a guy who picked up a girl early in the evening, went home and shagged, went back out and picked up again. My ex-roommate once commented "I've never sucked on two different sets of nipples on the same day before." Back when I had roommates every bedroom door was plastered over in sound absorbing foamy stuff (can't remember the proper word for it, but the stuff they cover DJ booths with). A few months back two girls followed my friend home in the early morning hours, gave him some satisfaction (although not going the whole hog it involved nudity and resolution), and went on their merry way.
Man, the stories are endless. . . (not my own personal activites [I'm a geek], but the activities of the people I've known and hung out with over the years).
I don't know the scene now, but I would imagine the basic pick up still depends on the same points:
1) if you're good-looking that's one leg in bed already
2) being funny is good for another leg in bed
3) alcohol is the most pervasive and influential drug in use in the world today
4) money means a lot
5) a consideration of the pullability of a woman should be undertaken before trying to pull. |

It's also the quickest medium for meeting girls, in my opinion. I never tried much at the bars, though. A few times I met some nice girls in Hongdae. I'm not forward enough and it's too loud at the clubs. Also they usually have friends with them, and many times there is the one that is sober and looking out for her buddy. However, I have gotten quite a few numbers and dates that led to more.
Try kereaherald.com or asianeuro.com I've met most of my girlfriends on those. They always come across like they want to improve their English or they just want a penpal...that's a cover-up. 9/10 times they want a little action. Get a picture from them first though before you meet them, preferably 2 or 3. I've had some great ones, but there's always the other kind.
As for for the girls here, it seems like they are usually one extreme or the other. They are the traditional type or they'll be ready to make you happy  on the first or second date. Also, if they've dated foreigners before, you can be sure you're going to get lucky. |

Dude, you sound bitter. You don't really sound like the kind of guy that I'd care to strike up a conversation with at a bar. Really, my gut feeling is that the posters here are right on the money.....it's not them....it's you.
I pick up sometimes in Hongdae, but to be honest it took awhile to figure out the K-girls. They are a different bread for sure.
I enjoy Hongdae....hell I enjoy a bloody soju tent! Why are you so worried about 'the scene'? Just chill out.....this is a huge city and there are places for every taste out there......ya just gotta look around a bit. |
