i found out today about a festival in Pohang on Saturday. there are FIREWORKS!
this excites me since 1. fireworks are awesome 2. there is supposed to be a huge crowd each year (with many foreigners, apparently) 3. it's only a short bus ride from Gumi.
has anyone been to this festival? anybody going? |

Don't know about this one, but Seoul has an international fireworks competition with a bunch of countries competing over several weekends. (In the fall.)
If the smell of gunpowder doesn't offend you, this is well worth your time. |

Yeah, I went last year. It's on the beach, which is nice.
China, Japan and Korea compete to see whose show is best. The Japanese one had a lot of hi-tech laser lights and holograms, projected images along with fireworks. The Chinese one had incredible explosions, patterns I'd never seen in fireworks before. And the Korean one was full of music and choreography.
Well worth the trip to the east coast to see!
Biggest fireworks festival in Korea they say, and it is! (the steel company pulls out all the stops to get a firstclass show) |
