Hi all,
I have been looking for a position for a few months now with the help of a recruiter and two of the positions that I was suppose to get fell threw. After that I contacted another recruiter so I now have two recruiters both claiming I will be hired and signed a contract with one of them. Both recruiters have my documents and tell me they will be applying for my visa number. I don't want to tell the other I am not interested in case something happens.
Should I just wait to see which recruiter follows through and gets the visa number first. Both positions are in the same province, one working for the county the other a ps in a smallish city. The pay is the same.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

Common sense dictates using one recruiter.

Actually, common sense dictates that you have as many people looking as possible. This way you have more choices and options (which should translate into a better job). Once you accept a position, then you can tell the rest your not interested.

Actually I only signed one contract thus far and the jobs are in two different provinces. From what some posters have said its best to have more than one recruiter, dealing with two is like a full time job, trying to keep track of all the e-mails and so on.
I don't like being deceptive but this job search has been hellish.

Yeah, LOOKING, i agree.
But once the contract is signed, it's not right.

I agree with the eye. You've already signed a contract. Both ethically and legally you don't now get to play one off against another, or wait to see who comes through. You signed the contract. You made a committment. Try to live by it.

why did you send both recruiters your documents? I used multiple recruiters....and off course they all promised jobs. I didnt send my documents until I found a contract I liked.

If you signed a contract, then tell the other recruiters immediately. Don't waste his/her time if he/she has been trying to help you.

Thanks for the feedback people, I just e-mailed one of the recruiters and told them not to process my application.

What? Use EVERY recruiter...at the same time! ONE recruiter? Suicide. Make them work for you. They don't really do much, and they make money off of your arse making the move.

wait a minute Shocked did you send a RECRUITER your documents?? not the school? the school is responsible for filing for your visa application, NOT the recruiter - i think you might want to check this out - make sure it's the school, not the recruiter, you could be getting set up BIG TIME - did you ever even talk to someone at the school?

When you're using recruiters to find a job treat them just like you would real estate agents when you're looking for a house. Would you only contact one estate agent to help you find a home? Would you take his word alone as to what is available and best for you?

Agents get paid a commission for their troubles, so make them earn this commission by finding you exactly what you want.
