So...I must have picked up some kind of foot fungus (an evil adjuma strain?) in my gym's locker room. It hurts.
What can I ask for in the pharmacy to make the pain and redness go away?
And those of you who know me in real life, please don't make fun of my foot fungus. |

Don't sit cross-legged in the nude, because then it could potentially spread to your "special area".
And, no, I am not a doctor or a certified dermatologist. But I would suppose a medicinal spray must be available.
Anyone have a brand name she could find? |

The pharmacist should understand "fungus" or "athlete's foot" or whatever, it shouldn't be too hard to get that across. Ask for Canestan cream if the pharmacist is thick and has no other ideas, it's a cream for various types of fungal infections and I think they have it in Korea. |

The korean word for fungus is "moo-jeom".
Seriously, it was a vocabulary word in a lesson I had to teach, really. Easier to just give them the Korean equivalent than to go through a whole song and dance to explain athlete's foot. |

same thing happened me in korea, the head dude at the gym went down to the little store, he got 8 bottles of soju, brought them up, emptied them into an old bucket, and made me sit there for an hour. No joke, AN HOUR. Solved the problem! I never asked him what he did with that bucket, but the next day it was empty. |

I had a little foot fungus myself earlier in the summer. Went the the pharmacy, but they refused to give me any cream without a prescription. Went to the doctor, got a prescription, problem solved. Not sure the name of the cream, just comes in a unlabled green plastic dish with the word "pal" written in Korean on the top. |

I had a similar problem a year ago, and it was insidious in the fact that it was not in the least bit visible, but produced unexpected and random intensely sharp pains, like a pin being poked in a toe. The MD at the clinic acted like he'd seen it before, said it was pretty serious but treatable, and put me on a course of antibiotics that was supposed to last from 6 months. It was a pill, pretty strong, apparently because I only had to take it once a week. After 3 months, though, it had disappeared and I decided not to refill the 'script for the rest of the treatment. Korean Drs way overprescribe antibiotics, and I might need 'em later and wouldn't want to develop an immunity to them ...
Hope people gave you some good advice here, aa - when things are working like they ought to, that's what this place is for.

They do sell Lamasil here. It's in Hangul and sounds like "Lamasil." |

Home remedy: garlic.
Try it. It's worked for me in the past. Use fresh cloves or even minced garlic and rub it on the area once a day for a week. I just got back from a long road trip wearing soaking wet and sweaty socks and I'll have ta try garlic again on my heal. I guess it's good for a number of skin ailments. |

In the states I had a bad case. After I tried the generic Lamasil
the doctor gave me another topical and finally some kind of
anti-fungal pill. It just didn't want to die.
Search for some drugs on the internet and then show the list
to your pharmacist.
I read in travel book that you can soak your feet in a dilute bleach
solution. Never tried it though. |

Thanks, all...
I got the Canestan with no problems. My foot already feels a little better. It's only in a very small area, so I hope this does the trick. |
