Are you American?
Are you there on a C-3 visa or an F-3 visa?
Some more info would be very helpful. |

Please check to be sure, but I had always heard that with an f2 visa you were allowed to teach private lessons legally -- or rather, that it was NOT illegal to teach private lessons. If that is the case, it is pretty easy to find adults willing to do conversation classes with a foreigner, and I would say 40,00-60,000 won an hour would be pretty easy to get for doing it. You could also teach private lessons to kids -- you would have to give yourself a crash course in trying to teach, but honestly, most people are paying for the chance to converse with a native speaker, not for high level instruction. Folks that want more than you are capable of giving in a lesson won't ask you to teach them, so no problem.... |

While I agree that privates are probably the best way to go. I am fairly certain that to do it legally...which is to run a study room in your home, then you need to a certificate from the local education office. To get that certificate, you need to have a uni degree. |

With an F-2 visa you an work anywhere...as long as it's not educational.

Not looking to stay in Korea.. Just plan on staying a year or so while the wifey finishes her college.. No plans on being a teacher when I return to the states.. Just something to pass the time between exploring the sites.. |

If you are an American with an F-2, then you can work at just about anywhere, educational or non-educational jobs.
A few of the non-educational jobs are; U.S. Embassy, Dragon Hill Lodge, USFK Red Cross chapter just to name a few. |
