Two of my co-teachers and I just got back from a trip to Hong Kong. We all got along great until an hour before leaving to come back to Korea. One of my teacher "friends" and I have had some issues in the past. She tends to get a little bi-polar and constantly looks for any excuse to get mad at you. She's basically a miserable person who has no tolerance for people who are different from her (and she's the hardcore Christian).

Well, something went down and once again she started freaking on me for no reason...acting bi**chy and giving me the cold shoulder. When I asked her what the problem was all hell broke loose. Unfortunately, I got in her face and gave her a little shove. Yes I know...maybe the wrong thing to have done. But I am always nice to her and never snap at her like she does me...So, my frustration with her just built up a little too much.

Today will be our first day back at school and I'm wondering what she will tell everyone (She's a major a** kisser and has gotten in the middle of some issues between my bosses and I). My contract states that I can be fired if I threaten any harm to any of the other teachers. So, I'm wondering if our incident on our vacation is going to affect my job. Mind you, my school gives me no paid sick days and doesn't pay into the pension plan for me. So really, would it be a bad thing if I got fired? I'm kinda hoping they will fire me so I can get a better job.

I'm just curious to know if anyone else has dealt with similar issues. Did anyone get fired for an incident that happened off of school grounds?

Are you all westerners, Koreans, or a mix of the two?

At my first job two of my co-workers got in several serious scraps and another time had to be pulled apart and restrained by another co-worker and me (after a staff dinner). As long as it didn't happen at work I don't think that wongjongnim-babo cared.

That's hilarious.

First time I've heard of such a provision being included in a TEFL'ers contract.

I had a fellow teacher who was sharing an apartment with me. Liked to smoke pot in the apartment. We came to blows, but he quit smoking in the apartment or near it when I threatened to narc him out. Some people are just plain idiots.
