I'm heading over in 3-weeks and was wandering if there is any way of finding out the term times for the public school system in Korea.
I imagine that school holidays are the same throughout the country but was wandering if anyone knows the dates when the schools close and for how long, especially over the Christmas and New Year period.
Thanks in advance. |

Except for national holidays they are all different. As for how long semester breaks are, it depends on if you teach at an academic school and if they make you go even when students are on break.
My school changed their vacation time in the middle of the semester so nothing is ever concrete until it happens here. |

^Really? Strange, I'd have thought there would have been a more uniform holiday agenda.
From your experience, what's the typical xmas break duration? |

1 day, Xmas day, with some vacation in early January (possibly).
It's true about not having any uniformity about vacation time and not even finding out until last minute. It's one of those things I'll never get about Korea but will never change on m account, so have choice to grin and bear it. |

All national holiday are off. At Seoul PS, you get 21 business days vacation, plus chances for more. You are expected to take those days during the winter and summer breaks and not during an English camp which you will probably teach. So Feb. and Aug. are usually off. |
