I was told that next month's bill will be "expensive" due to the aircon. This month's was around 75,000. Is that normal? What's average during the winter when you have to use the heat all the time? Back home I was paying nearly $200 / month so this seems about right to me.

I think it all depends on the size of your apartment. Bigger places are going to require more juice/gas to heat in the winter/keep cool in the summer. Our bills add up to about 200k per month, but that's for everything - gas, electric, building fees, etc. We also changed the lights to more energy saving bulbs.

14,000 last month and I don't have an aircon. Plus, I don't need the aircon, where I live. In the winter about 80,000 with the heat on.

In a new villa apartment, and the cost has been under 10K each of the last 3 months.
Using aircon for an hour or so most days now, so I expect this months to be a little heftier.

Oh.. sorry, I read how much is your electricity bill this month and voted for 100K+.

Normally, in winter, it's about 30-40K because we have the fan heater going in the bathroom when my toddler daughter has her bath.

In Summer, it's about 200K when we have the living room aircon on during the day (when my daughter is home, otherwise I don't use it much) and bedroom one on at night.

This month, it's 9,260. That's about average. It seems to run between 5,000 and 10,000 per month.

Laughing Yay for cheap electricity!

Electricty in Korea is billed on a sliding scale depending on how many kilowatt hours you use per month. A small increase in consumption can lead to an exponential increase in cost if you go over the 'magic number' of kilowatt hours.

Mine was 75,000 but that included land phone that gets a lot of use.

Pretty good considering we have three fans running 24/7 (no fatalities yet Very Happy ).

If you have a look on the back of your electricity bill it will tell you what the "magic number" is for you and what the difference is. Or at least I can remember noticing a few days ago that the back of my bill told me this
