You know the infamous kebab guy in Itaewon (behind the old Burger King)? A friend of his has opened a kebab house in Hyewha.

Tayfun Kebabs is brand new and is the first kebab house to serve beef kebabs in Korea. His specialty is the chicken kebab. He also serves the meat and veggies with a rice pilaf instead of on a tortilla if you want. I ate 3 different plates with a friend and they were all excellent.

Tayfun Kebabs is located just after the enterance to university (take the street next to Burger King and walk down a few blocks).

Now if Hyewha would get a Mexican food place.......

At the moment he's open 7 days, 12-10pm.

The food is good and at 3,000 won for a chicken kebab it's pretty reasonable too.

And he's a nice guy.

I'm sorry. I live in Hyehwa, but I don't understand those directions. Which university? Which Burger king?

I need to get up there. Lately, though, I'm too lazy to go that far. I live in Songpa-gu. I haven't taken a subway in over 2 months. I'm going through a lazy stage.

It's next to Sungkyunkwan University main gate.

Hyewha station exit 4 - walk along the busy, main pedestrian street.
Cross over to Burger King, go straight, walk past - Mr Avocado (also good food), New York Hotdog (not so good), Ediya coffee, then SKKU main gate and there you are.

That's awesome. Though my level of taste may not be that great as I personally enjoy the disgusting/tasty nacho cheese dogs from New York Hot Dog. Very Happy Have you tried the food at Istanbul restaurant too?

I work there, but alas have not taught a class with her, though a few of my fellow teachers have. She got great grades apparently and was met every day after class by her manager.

To be fair New York Hot dog isn't that bad. The English sign on the shop front is pretty funny, from memory it implies that the Hot dogs are made of 100% New York men.

I like Istanbul too, nice atmosphere and good food.

The street food in Hyewha is definitely getting better- kebabs, Oven Bake, and now a new chicken-on-a-stick place. Like Bibbitybop said, all we need now is Mexican.

i like:
10X10 (above the store)
comfort zone
the dong-dong ju place up the road from comfort zone (i'm out of town and forget the name)
the "cat" bar up the road from comfort zone

there are others, but i tend to rotate through those.
