How long did you have to wait for your Visa Issuance Number? The paperwork for mine was submitted on August 2, 2007, so it has been approximately 10 working days and I still dont't have it. My recruiter said when she contacts them they tell her it is still being processed.

mine took exactly 9 days total (including sat and sun), you may want to get on your recruiter for the issuance #...don't be rude or anything, but just press the issue, especially if they expect you to be in korea sometime soon...but leave home on your own terms, don't let them rush you...

what recruiting agency are you working with?

From when the immigration office receives your documents it should only take 3 or 4 days to get the number.

I'm having the exact same problem. It should take about ten days but for some reason mine took 19 days instead. Nothing's certain.

I'm being told by my employer (at a large company) that it will take 4-5 weeks. Another guy who is on the way over also had to wait a similar length of time...

Maybe there's some sort of backlog?

Even when they're busy, at most it should take is two weeks. That's the longest I have ever had to wait for immigration to process a visa issuance number and it was immigration who told me it'll take that long not an employer.

4 to 5 weeks is complete BS and just pure laziness and/or incompetence.

E2 visas are normally processed in 4-10 WORKING days.

Big school chains who have many teachers working for them (and great relations with someone in the immigration office) can often get them processed in 1-4 working days.

E7 visas can take longer especially if it is the FIRST time the company has gone through the application process.

Mine is an E7...do you know what the reason is behind these taking longer than an E2? The place I'm working for is an established company with a sizable foreign staff, so it's definitely not the first time they are going through the process.

For an E7 (and not a teacher at a foreign school) they have to justify hiring a foreigner for each particular position / application. They have to show that a Korean is not capable of doing the job first.
