i've been here two weeks and am in desperate need of a grocery store. I live one stop away from Gangnam at the Seoul Univ. Is there some sort of website that tells you all the locations? |

Get in a taxi and say "E-mart-uuuhhhh" or "Lotte Mart-uhhhh." Good luck! |

There's an emart at the Seolleung subway station (two east of Gangnam). It used to be the Walmart (which sucked large in Korea). Take exit 3. Walk straight to the first major intersection. (About half way to the major intersection you'll see a Burger King on your left. Pay it no mind.) Anyway, right at the major intersection. You'll see it after a massive apartment complex.
For all your handy english map needs:

Need to use IE and install the activex control when prompted. Very handy. |

I agree with the taxi advice. If he says something after you say "E-Maht-uh" then just keep saying "neh, neh, neh" until he starts driving. |

Lotte Mart actually has an English-Language list of its locations: http://www.lotteshopping.com/english/lotte/about/index.jsp
I'd also recommend asking for Home Plus--- another fairly convenient superstore. Other good ones are Kim's Club and GS mart. Though if you ask a cabbie fro GS mart, he might just drop you off at a GS 25. |

I'm assuming you're talking about Seoul National University of Education. There's a good grocery store called Lotte Super (different from Lottemart) right by the subway station. Just go out Exit 7 and walk past exits 3 and 4, then cut left and then right and go down the smaller street that runs parallel to the main street. You should see a sort of plaza on your left with an small escalator coming up from it. There will be a sign for Lotte Super but I forget if its in English or not. Anyways, head down the stair and through the doors and it's near the back and to the right. A bit tricky to find, but way closer than seollung and pretty good. |

Unless you're REALLY picky, if you're in desperate need of groceries, you could try buying a few things at your local sup-ah. You know, those little independently owned grocery stores with the concrete floors. Look out for them when you walk to work or whatever, I bet you pass several. The prices are often cheaper than in a big store, but you do have to watch out for expiration dates on certain items. But it should be fine for the basics! |

Take the subway to COEX and use the Hyundai Dept store grocery area. |
