I hate whiney male students who bi!ch all the time. I swear some of my students can't do a damn thing for themselves. I half expect it from the female students. But, damn, guys. Man up and do your work and quit your whining.

Why would you expect it more from female students than male ones? I would think it would be annoying no matter who was doing the whining.

Yea, not that I favor girls, my girls are well behaved students compared to the boys in middle school classes, generally speaking. I believe the reason 10 to 12 year old boys act like they are so bad arse is that they are experiencing that adolescent inferiority complex causing them to scream for attention through acting very rude by constantly running their mouths, but they are speaking English quite well for me. I tell them they need to think more, before they speak. Very funny attempt to improve the situation that doesn't work.

Girls will be too quiet, but are good listeners and understand more of what I am saying, while the boys will be running their mouths saying all kinds of things like, "Teachuh, your face is ugly, go look at yuh face in the mirror." And then I will take 2 steps closer and they change the sentence to, "Teachuh, your face is very hansome." Totally funny LOL. Amazingly, my boys are doing better than the girls with learning and speaking English, but are just so rude and aggressive. There is always a reason for any given behavior, but it's often tough to understand where they are coming from since it probably is something outside of class or they can't express themselves due to shyness or low English vocabulary. Often, it's simply hunger and exhaustion that is out of your control. There is one condition they all speak well in whining and complaining about and that is, "We are hungry and tired!". Recently, all my middle schoolers got new cell phones and are acting like little adults with the right to do as they please which is very cute and funny. What is not cute and funny is when one whines that she will drop my class if she is forced any longer to drop phone calls in class!!!

Conversely, kindergarten boys do much better than the girls for me. There are huge differences in age groups, but they all carry their traits and similarities regardless of where you're at or what race of students they are, but there are exceptions. I have this one 6 year old boy who whines all the time and just throws his hands up, says, "I don't know," curls up into a fetal position and acts like he is choking. A few days ago, he spit up blood, so I urged the Korean teachers and director to speak with his parents to get him checked out as something is badly wrong. I feel bad for losing my patience and yelling at him a few times in the past several months for excessive whining and classroom disruption now that I realize something is badly wrong such as an underlying health condition causing him to misbehave abnormally. Remember, there is always a reason for an individual to excessively whine, throw his/her hands up, scream, and curl up in the fetal as much as it pisses you off after many months of trying to be a good teacher. I notice how each class is very different where some classes are terrible complainers, while others do real good though we are not told anything about classes or students attributes, but it is clear to me that they are control grouped. It's too bad a hogwon most likely won't address serious problems with their parents since the parents are paying customers who don't want to be told something is wrong with their baby.

I can handle attitude from students. If they are good enough to give me attitude than they are more than capable of working. I had a class yesterday of basic readers. I spent the majority of the class going through the material and than I had them do written excerises. The material was a bit difficult for thier class level so I helped them through the first two hard questions. But when they asked me about another question I said "no" and after a while and after a bit of bi!ching the most amazing thing happened; they started doing it themselves. Which is great becuase they can't be spoon fed asnwers their enitre lives.

Yeah, whining sucks. It seems that in every class, the top student is a boy, the next two or three are girls.
