My Korean friend is visiting me in LA because he is going to a wedding in LA.

the bride invited him. She was a former ex gf and she is white. She is marrying a half korean half mexican guy. (father is korean, mother is mexican).

ummm... is this a normal thing to be inviting a former ex-bf to a wedding? im just curious bc i find that a bit weird!

Just a minute now, let me figure this out. You said a former ex-boyfriend. So he was an ex-boyfriend, but now he's a FORMER ex-boyfriend, so I think that means he's the boyfriend again since he's not the FORMER ex boyfriend anymore. So why the heck is she marrying this other guy? And why is your friend not ticked off about this, as he's clearly the boyfriend now....

You have really weird friends.

ahh... okay, i guess u are a pretty literal person. Laughing he is just an EX-bf.

well... supposedly i guess he's not ticked off because they just messed around... nothing serious.

i still find it weird tho. i can't imagine inviting an ex to my wedding. Shocked wouldn't my bride be like "who is she? why is she here? do u still like her?" etc...etc...?

Whats with all the race stuff? Why'd you have to sneak that in? The title was about ex's at wedding. The race stuff is irrelevant.

actually, my korean friends find it a bit strange. and we were wondering if this is a "white thing" to invite an ex to ur wedding.

but the consensus was, that we shouldn't judge white people on what white standards are.

which ultimately came my own question if this is a normal practice for white people. hence the thread.

I thought about it really hard. Decided it wouldn't be prudent.

Well I am white and have never been to a white wedding (It's a nice day for a white wedding!) where exes were there.

You know, JAD, I liked you at first. Now you're getting stupid.

This isn't a white marriage its a mixed marriage. Many white women who mix have emotional problems are manipulative or are just promiscuous.

Its looks like your buddy scored and likely bragged to everyone about having a White women but really she was just using a crutch or bed hopping. Its looks like she's bed hopping now.

If everyone's cool with it, why not.

I once went to an ex-boyfriend's wedding. There were zero issues between me and his bride-to-be, we were all friends. Great wedding!

My ex invited me to her wedding. I was genuinely happy for her and didn't think it would be that bad. WRONG!

A miserable night with people audibly gasping at my very presence when I showed up in the church, a very annoyed groom, and the subject of people's "sympathy" all night long. Well, not all night. Took off early with a bottle of wine and had fun elsewhere.

It was all well intentioned on my part, and that of the ex, but we didn't factor in other people's perceptions. I would strongly suggest to your friend that it's not a good idea.

Yeah, really. Us white men can sleep with Asians to our hearts' content, but our women must stay pure.

It possibly may work out well.

Expect negative reactions, however.
