Well TB, you already know what I'm doing after this. But for those not in the know... I'm going to a land where most men wear a daggar on their belt... Where much of the population is addicted to a mild narcotic.. And which is Bin Laden's ancestreal homeland.

I was pretty energized about it, but the thought of slow and crappy internet, no hot women, and massive poverty kinda lowers the enthusiasm. Kyobo looks like the Library of Congress compared to any bookstore in yemen. These days I'm thinking, "dang it, why couldn't there be a Middle Eastern version of Korea?" (ie easy to get a decent paying job to teach english with just a BA). Then again, I'm not so sure I ever want to work in a hogwon environment ever again.

But what the hey, it'll be one hell of an experience and at least I won't have any distractions from studying; well besides qat that is.

I'm pretty content with my current situation, and hope to sign on for another year once this contract is up. Assuming my boss will have me for another year (and give me a raise to make up for the recruiter fee she won't have to dish out), and that the school stays open. Her husband wants her to close the school, but she doesn't want to give up her hobby.

If things don't work out in this school, I still want to stay. There's a lot I like about life here.

My desire to return to the U.S. decreases daily. I miss my friends and family, but they've already scattered so much that I couldn't even find one city where I'd be particularly close to most of them.

Should I find that I need or want to leave Korea, I'd probably either go to Taiwan (I have friends there, the money is still good for ESL teachers there, and I'd love to have the opportunity to study Mandarin) or whatever Spanish speaking country can offer me the best deal for teaching (my university minor was Spanish, I'd like to improve my Spanish before I've completely forgotten about it).

Finances are keeping me here for one more year after this one.
Then to Thailand for the CELTA thing...if I can.
Once that's finished and if the money sitch is good, off to Japan or China for me. Wish I could do Europe!!!

I would go to the USA and then go "My God!", get drunk, and then go to Japan.
